They have the new stadium ... for only £15m too.

Spurs will be in debt for a decade IF they get their new stadium built. They could lose a lot of fans to the Hammers if they are not careful

LOEW - Do you ever create a thread that's not designed to wind up oppossing fans!?!!?

    :emoticon-0102-bigsm

In the short term, can't see why Spurs would lose fans to West Ham, unless of course there are some Spurs fans out there who like throwing coins, anti semetic 'hissing' and have a pathelogical hate for ex-players just because they moved on to better things.

Yes, true. But while getting the Olympic Stadium is a good deal for Wet Spam, it is not as good as getting Abramovich's bottomless pit of money. Wherever they play, they are still West Ham.

I watched the report on this this morning... Although Upton Park may be in a bit of a ****hole... it's still a good one to visit imo and you really can get a good atmosphere going. Being close to the West Ham fans to the left and right makes for good banter and it's a big rivalry between us and West Ham. The Olympic Stadium could ruin all the atmosphere. Like at the Emirates... it is very rare to get a cracking atmosphere there nowadays.

Plus this season West Ham have struggled to sell out Upton Park so why would they want a bigger stadium!?

My main concern, and I'm sure the spurs fans will be equally concerned is with the obvious lack of atmosphere that West Ham fans will have at home games, will we still be able to hear the 'hissing' noises when they play spurs and the cancer related snipes at Lampard when they play us? Also with many of the fans being so far from the pitch, have the spammers got a good enough arm to be able to pelt players with coins??

If you are a true supporter you surely wouldn't abandon your club for another, whatever the issues and certainly not one about ground developement!

while bigger gates will bring more revenue i have serious doubts that it will push them much further up the table to be a big club you need far more than a big stadium hell you need more than just a mega rich owner QPR continue to prove that.

with the stands quite far from the pitch i can see a loss of atmosphere to its like that with the vast majority of big grounds the exception being the Allianz Arena which i visited recently superb stadium narrow pitch and the stands close to the pitch give it that good old fashioned feel when we eventually move i hope our stadium is like that

The stands will be able to slide over track towards the pitch. Still, brand new stadiums always take time to bed in

Even though it may be a WUM, LF has a point.

Football clubs can grow exponentially in a short period of time.

Thanks to taxpayers money, West Ham pay barely anything which eases their debt and makes them a better proposition for future buyers.

Can't see Spurs (or West Ham) being major players so long as Abramovich, Mansour are still there, especially with FFP in to preserve United and Arsenal's status. Commercially Spurs and West Ham will never be as big as the Sky 4 + City even if they are in a position to command higher gate receipts.

It was only 4 seasons ago that we finished level on points with Spurs.

Since that time we have been badly run with bad managerial appointments and we have suffered a relegation. We have been held back by the Tevez repayments to Sheffield Utd. We have been the subject of two takeovers in the last 5 years and quite frankly, the club has been a complete circus.

Things appear to be gradually improving now though.

Allardyce, despite his faults, has come in and stabilised us. I dont know how long he will stay with us. I would imagine he will still be with us when we move. With yesterday's stadium announcement and the potential for investment, bigger attendances and a higher profile, there is no reason why we can't catch up with, and even surpass Spurs over the next decade.

Dunno about losing fans to the hammers. But may start to take on more new young fans than previously. Bale brings in more new spurs fans than the rest of the entire team<ok>

Still, it's amusing the crying by spuds over the stadium, boohoo<laugh>

The only area West Ham and Spurs compete for fans is North Essex, it affects Leyton Orient more than anyone else, I can understand why they are so upset. When Dad goes down to Brisbane Road, are you going to go with him and pay £15-£20 or are you going to go to the OS with your mates, get in for £1 and watch them play Chelsea and United.

West Ham are the Tesco to the local supermarket. Killing the competition.
