I think not. Harry doesn't have the strength or the guile to outwit Sir Alex at Man Utd. The only man I can see doing that regardless of his style or methods is Jose.

Any manager would need a lot of luck to win the league with Spurs when we spend so much less than the other clubs at the top. I don't think Mourinho could either with our current budgets. If we managed to afford his services we'd still then need to spend way above our ability too to make the step up to have a real ability to displace the teams above us and stay ahead of the teams below.

I do still think it may be the right time for us to part company with 'Arry at the end of the season, unless he genuinely wants to stay with us rather than take the England job, or anyother for that matter.

I'd have to say no, but with the current financial situation, I'm not sure that anyone could.
We had a decent stab at it this season, all things considered, but we'd need to change a few things about the club in order to seriously challenge for the whole season, plus compete in Europe.

If we do need to replace Redknapp in the summer, then I'd expect the lack of continuity and stability to damage our league campaign next season, regardless of who takes over.
We'll struggle to keep some of our better players, too.

I think all three of you have produced valid points there. I read something about a billionaire wanting to buy us a few weeks back so maybe we should go ahead with that to lure Jose here. I too think it's time to part with Harry unless he wins something this season and gains 3rd place.

This subject has, in a roundabout way, been discussed before. There are a few aspects to managing a football club nowadays. Tactics, team selection and deployment, and man management. There are very few better than Harry at the latter. As has been said before, if he would just hand over some of the tactical and team selection side to somebody who is maybe a bit more astute, then you would have the perfect combination.

That's a new euphemism for having influence over referees and the FA...

How do we know for certain the tactical input is Harry's, and not Harry just agreeing with Bond?

Well we don't know that do we. But what I feel also is that England wouldn't win anything under Harry either

True, we don't. But then, that's not very good management either. It must be clear, or be made clear, to whoever dreamed up our tactics and team selection in the last three games, that they have ****ed up badly.

We played well against Utd in the first half and they scored against the run of play as even SAF pointed out. We also played well against Everton in the second half so it's not all gloom.

We lacked creativity in both games though, TMT and we only started to cause Everton a lot of trouble when Modric and Bale returned to their strongest positions.
Starting van der Vaart on the right against Bolton didn't fill me with confidence, either.
It didn't work at all and I don't think that it ever has.

Yes,I totally agreed with your first point then about Modric and Bale. Playing Bale out of position is counter productive and I don't know why Harry does it. I never have been able to make up my mind where to play VDV. I'd like him and Saha up front with Defoe and Ade reduced to the ranks.

I think there's a lot of truth in the opinion that Harry has his favourites. The mistake he makes - assuming he is pulling the strings tactically - is to try and fit whatever pieces he has available, into whatever spaces there are available, regardless of whether those pieces fit, or not.

To be honest, I have come to the conclusion that its hard to win the league with anyone as long as fergie is around. When he quits we will probably have a more exciting league and one which wont be dominated by 1 team. I dont like man u or fergie but the guy is a genius <ok>

How can you not like Man U? They've been excellent representatives for us in Europe. But I think you're right, while SAF is around the PL is a boringly predictable place to be.
