I personally don't think it's possible to financially compete with the likes of man city and Chelsea. Winning a trophy is unrealistic IMO....but that's just me. What does everyone else think? Haven't included carling as we usually end up experimenting as do other teams.
They're in a different league. Not realistic to compare IMO. Now with psg entering the foray of rich clubs I doubt they'll come close next year. Dortmund have but one major competitor on bayern who aren't anywhere near as rich as Chelsea Man city or Manu
I've got a funny feeling that Wenger is due for a last hurrah of some sort. Looking at the squad, I just get the impression that if we can keep a few players fit we can win something at a walk. If you look at a side something like: Szczesny Sagna-Kos-Verm-Santos Arteta-Wilshere-Song Walcott-Giroud-Podolski There isn't a whole lot of weakness if everyone lives up to their potential. And even with that squad we have some very decent players on the bench, Ramsey, Ox, Per, Gervinho etc.
Compared to Bayern, Drtmud were in our situation. Monpellier were relegation canidates and they won it, and we bought the guy who single handedly won it for them. Season hasn't even started and people are giving up.
I haven't by any means given up. I agree we can get a trophy but I feel it's unrealistic to demand/expect a trophy considering our finances relative to others. In fact I found a £20 note on the sidewalk recently and put a cheeky £20 bet on arsenal to win the league....I know it's stupid but that's me!
We need to make a couple of signings and then we will be there or thereabouts, yes chelsea may have spent millions but we have also done a bit of buisness early this time which is a boost and i think that we will definately sign 2 players maybe 3 and providing we have a good start to the season we can definately win a trophy.
Portsmouth and Birmingham have won trophies in recent seasons. It's clearly a possibility, though I'd have to say that you're probably outsiders for either the Premier League title or the Champions League.
That seems about right. I'd say we can win 1 of the minor titles and be the dark horses for one of the major ones.
Not going to tell you that it is a winner, but I think about mid-season at least, you are going to be pretty happy with those odds.
Too early to say. If RVP leaves and we don't make any more additions then I think top four is all we can hope for to be honest.
If RVP leaves then I just hope for a good showing in all the cups and a top four position. Even winning the CC would be an achievement at this stage. If we keep RVP or we replace him with Llorente then we could have a very exciting season.
"Can we" and "Will we" are two different questions. Of course we CAN win a trophy if Giroud/Pod settle well and Wilshere comes back in good form. We probably won't win one though.
Premier league: Between 8/1 and 143/10 with bookies and exchanges. Average price is around 12/1: Long shot. CL: Between 14/1 and 28/1. Average price is around 22/1. Longer shot FA cup: Between 7/1 and 9/1. Average price is around 8/1. Best chance (excluding the Lge Cup) and doable with a kind draw.
