If we are able to turn over blaaadiff come Saturday afternoon, are we really able to celebrate promotion with the FA charges still hanging over our head till the 6th of May? From what I have read/heard it is unlikely to come down to points deduction but no one really knows for definite what punishment may await so can we really believe we are up till a final decison has been made? I perosnally think that the Fottball League postponed the decison till the 6th of May so if they were to issue a points deduction it will be one that wouldn't prevent automatic promotion. As to prevent the club from going up to the prem with a points deduction would essentially be a fine of ã60m, which would be an outrageous outcome.
Agreed the hearing date is ludicrous. There can't be many more important situations in professional football than who gets promoted to the PL so it seem ridiculous to have such a long wait. I know that QPR requested time to put their case together but once they were in a position to go forward (the hearing announcement was a couple of weeks back) it should have been possible to get that done within a few days surely. The cloud will hang over us whatever happens on Saturday I'm afraid.
I'm intrigued to know if the FA picked this date or if we have delayed the proceedings until then. Surely the precedents for these offences have already been set, and so, if found guilty, the punishments should already be known. If they shape the punishment to avoid a legal battle they will be an even bigger laughing stock than they already are. They also run the risk of setting any future precedent on a ruling that has been chosen for the wrong reasons. After their statement that they want to get this sorted quickly they have really screwed it up. A points deduction that takes us out of the automatic promotion spots will result in a legal case. They can’t compete financially with our owners. In my opinion this is why Lakshmi Mittal broke his silence on QPR and spoke to the press recently – just to warn the FA that he is serious. That said, I will still be waiting before celebrating as they are the FA and we are QPR.
On the basis of QPR's seeming relaxed stance on the issue and the date of the hearing, it seems like misjudged communications from the FA on the severity of the charges in the first instance. Perhaps they wanted to make a point that the rules are now in place to stop the Tevez situation ever happening again. I think that if it was believed to be a more serious issue than just a financial penalty, action would have been taken by now.
I think we should celebrate promotion if we win but still we have to be 100% focused for our next game on Monday We have to show confidence If the F.A see QPR celebrating going up, they would think twice about then taking it away from them
