No matter who comes on board to take on the almost impossible task of saving us from the drop can we make a commitment to support them in their quest. Let's say that it is SOD and he is not your first choice please extend the common courtesy to him that you respect his willingness to come to Ashton Gate under difficult circumstances. There isn't any among us who has the skills to do the job that he has taken on, and when you consider he turned down Blackpool in our favour I believe he is even more worthy of our respect. Our ship that has almost crashed in to the rocks will take a mighty effort to turn around, and constant bleating on this site will do nobody any good despite your personal thoughts. In my opinion the board have taken a giant leap forward by being proactive (at last) because, if indeed SOD is appointed today, they actually thought the situation through and talked to some people so that they could hire our new manager and give him time to make any adjustments before the transfer window closes. I'm feeling in a much more positive mood today than for quite some time and my thinking tells me that the past is just the past and there was nothing we could do to change that, so let's all get on board and welcome our new manager with renewed spirit and optimism. Not that hard really is it?
And can we also put aside bias about players, who may turn out to be much better under a different manager and given different roles to play. Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard were always brilliant for Liverpool/Chelsea, but based on their England performances you would not have rated them as highly. The difference is not the players, but the style and tactics they were asked to play to. Of course I except Fontaine from that, who I have been saying all season was the fault for around 50% of our goals and quite clearly couldnt help us with a clean sheet even if his arse was cemented over.
I think it is very certain that SOD will arrive with a very comprehensive idea of what has been happening at City and how individual players have been performing or conversely under-performing. If he sees certain individuals suddenly doing everything right and wholeheartedly will he not think to himself "This one could be my biggest problem at some stage in the future and thus he is not trustworthy and has to go! Leopards do not change their spots."
