A huge well done to everyone related to Gillingham today, players were terrific, the management was spot on and the crowd were electric. Very proud to be a Gills fan today after beating the Swine today. Hopefully we can kick on and really put any relegation fears to bed but for tonight at least I'm going to savour the moment before looking forward to Brentford away and the continuation of our topsy turvy season!

You nearly got the thread title correct - it should have been " Can we play like that every week. "

As you rightly say - a huge well done to the Gills. A very good performance. It would not have been flattering if we had put away a couple of more chances - Legge had one cleared off the line - and Cody was unlucky with a couple of shots that went agonisingly wide as well as hitting the bar in the first half.

I suppose an obvious question is " Why the rubbish last week.? "

Good performance and at least we played for 90 minutes for a change. However, there is still a critical bit in me regards selections. I just see the inconsistency to continue due to PT not appearing able to make braver choices. Although i suppose the priority this season is survival but in all honesty some players are just not cutting it, even though applying their best. Weston is quick but his attention and observations cannot keep up with his legs. Cody should have buried at least two chances. Davies should be playing alongside Legge. Dack should be starting and where are the new lads? Three points in the bag but we are just so unpredictable for the next game...oh Brentford!

brb why blame Taylor, he has made some brave decisions at least at home. who did not cut it today? Was Harriman playing midfield today a real masterstroke. Why do u always berate Barrett and think Davies should be in the team. Barrett has played well in 90 per cent of home matches. Yes we r not consistent, like most teams near the bottom but at least we are so much better at home. I also do believe in youth but did Dack play well at Colchester. Weston looked good in the first half before he became average. Yes Dack should play sometimes and i would rather him than Whipdale,***an or Lee on current form. Is Hessy not playing every week.

Look at the GD -10 the worst team apart from Carlisle for a team outside the promotion and relegation places, despite us not conceding today and scoring two goals. Bristol City 22nd place -3 GD. Now I'd like to say we are getting it right after two clean sheets against Swindon and Wolves but Colchester suggested far differently. Inconsistent tag. Legge i can see and was proven today why he earns his place, but i am not currently a fan of Barrett's. Nothing personal, just an opinion. Harriman on the wing, why was he never there in the first place. Not cutting it, Weston, a good L2 winger but not up to scratch for L1, his concentration is awful and has been for a long, long time. It's alright having the feet but they got to match the train of thought. Who broke for the second goal...Weston...no Dack and Martin for Harriman. We got it right today, but like MA getting it right last season, I will not be blinkered. However, a long way to go and i'm sure PT will prove me wrong in the next test at Brentford. I hope so, I've got a 63 point target to hit...lol...I expected to get slaughtered for my comments but it's up to the team on Friday to prove me wrong. Then against Port Vale the following Saturday. Then i might believe.

ps. I forgot to add, yes, I'm well pleased Hessy is playing every week, I will give credit to both player and manager for that.

Apologies for disagreeing with you on my first post but BRB you can't have it both ways. We were as great today as we were terrible last Saturday as that was in part down to the changes that had been made. Weston although didn't have his greatest game was positive and confident and gave us an outlet that has been missing of late. It put Swindon on the back foot. Hewitt and Harriman combined brilliantly down the left and Harriman's delivery was superb, an end product he hasn't really shown before. I thought both Barrett and Legge were outstanding putting their bodies on the line time and time again and in all honesty we weren't really threatened. I know they are both slow and get pulled apart at times but they are the best we have at the moment and the jury is still out on Davies. Once we are safe then it may be time to give him an extended run.

I also think it was right to drop Dack he has been ineffective when starting of late the game seems to pass him by. He was great when he came on today much like he did against Wolves and he and ***an changed the game. ***an looked a lot better playing further up the pitch. We were also a lot more proactive going forward without Kedwell in the team. He has been a liability in the last few weeks and looks unfit and overweight, how on earth he played all 90 minutes at Colchester is beyond me especially when Cody was sacrificed as a forward!

I do agree with you on the new lads though i would like to see what they are made of, not too sure Ipswich and Watford will be too pleased with their players sitting on the bench.

Anyway great result especially considering all the results around and below us, but anything from the Brentford game would be a bonus!

    CashyGills 1 - Welcome aboard
Don't apologise for disagreeing with brb - I will always put him right on our camel journies - although he does have a point about Weston.
He isn't L1 standard. There were many times ( especially during Swindon's sustained period of some pressure in the 2nd half ) when Weston was incredibly slow to react in relation to performing defensive duties. By the time his brain engaged gear, the ball was gone - with Weston well behind the passage of play. Thankfully these moments didn't bite us - as they did last week.
I think that with Harriman & Hewitt on the right we do have the pace that has been missing - to go forward and properly threaten the opposition defence, and surely Cody has got to start getting a bit more luck to put away some decent openings.
I was concerned when ***an was brought on for Akinfenwa. The latter player had been causing all sorts of problems for his markers - and (probably despite tiring) I thought we might lose some effectiveness up front. I was pleasantly surprised that ***an was used in an advanced position - rather than sitting deep.
We had a team that played well - and capable of much forward play. We deployed the right tactics and the necessary committment. THIS has got to be the way we need to mostly play - we don't seem to be able to defend ALL game without conceding the goal that undoes any attempt to shut out the opposition.

We might as well lose whilst trying, rather than to succeed to fail !

CashyGills1 - welcome on board. Pleased to see you are disagreeing with me, we all have opinions and you will find with this board differing views of debate is more than welcome.

RB - Hewitt? Not sure what really happened to him of late, up until yesterday, did he get injured, my memory is poor. I can remember seeing him at what i think was his first game for us away some time ago and he put in a superb performance. alwaysright you might remember the game where he was covering on the near post and we discussed him, covering at least one certain goal maybe two. He was doing what our defense before him had failed to do. With the exception of Legge adding height...maybe Legge was out at the time. I remember Legge being out for a while to my dissatisfaction, while Barrett remained in the side as captain.

brb that was Sheffield Utd away ( 2-1 to Gills ) - Hewitt did indeed have a good game - yes he's been injured - no I'm not surprised to see him come back & slot in nicely -with the bonus of allowing Harriman to use his pace to join the attack -and actually get into the oppositions half a damned sight quicker than of late -- long may it continue.

alwaysright - thanks for refreshing my memory. I have seen several comments throughout social media recognising Harriman on the wing as an act of genius by PT, but as it goes and as i thought, its nothing more than availability of player(s).
