Can the sands of time be changing for us,new manager, new players, new season, can we change recent form and spank the RED hordes descending upon us from across the bridge and they think they are invincible...

Recent 'Head to Head' form from our last 9 games suggest not..Cardiff Won 6,Bristol City Won 1 and Draw 2,Goals for Cardiff 20,Goals for Bristol City 9, not good for us...

Bristol City vs Cardiff City
Head to Head
England Championship
2012-03-10 Bristol City Cardiff City 1-2
2011-08-14 Cardiff City Bristol City 3-1
2011-01-01 Bristol City Cardiff City 3-0
2010-10-16 Cardiff City Bristol City 3-2
2010-01-26 Bristol City Cardiff City 0-6
2009-08-23 Cardiff City Bristol City 3-0
2009-03-15 Bristol City Cardiff City 1-1
England FA Cup
2010-01-19 Cardiff City Bristol City 1-0
2010-01-12 Bristol City Cardiff City 1-1

We are a new force now,we are workers and winners, they don't really know about us yet, if you read their forum, they mock us with humour as Wurzels, after our defeat and draw with Gillingham and Nottingham Forest they used words like,' Crushed and Mauling',totally undeserved.Another interesting factor, their new strike force of 3 has a combined age of 99 years,do you think we can cope with them.

I think we are heading for a hard fought victory,3-0,John Stead do his normal and bang in a couple.......Up the City...

Cardiff always start the season well so this will be a really tough fixture, we've improved yes so it has the makings to be a really good game, Cardiff are on different level to palace so we won't push them over like we did on Tuesday night, all things considered I can see this ending all square 0-0 for me

I'd take a draw although 3 points would be a fantastic result for us

We've won one game and people already think that we're a force to be reckoned with. If we win the next match there will be talk of the playoffs and if we lose it'll be back down to relegation again.

I think we'll lose 3-1 because we're not done strengthening and our defense will get caught out, but as I said in a previous post football is on our side against Franchise FC and we'll be spurred on by the support from not just Bristol but across the country.

We looked so different Tuesday night a real force with penetration up front,a midfield doing a superb job,and defense that was outstanding.

I think it was the way we demolished palace that gives us the vibes.

Spooky, but have we been here before ?
I remember when the great Shaun Taylor retired. City spent £2million on 2 strikers and never replaced Taylor.
Result - relegation that season.
Del - get that CH - Quick.

Red i seriously think this is a better squad of players than that era.

I really think a lot of fans have underestimated the manager and his signings.

I stress i was not a big fan of Del's appointment at the time, but i like what i am seeing,he is building his team to play his way.very exciting times ahead.

on wards and upwards.

'this is a better squad of players than that era' - Couldn't agree more but this Championship a far superior league than the one back then.

'but i like what i am seeing' - agree again but it's vital for a successful BCFC that we get another 'Shaun Taylor'.
Convinced Del's desperately trying to get a CH in, just hope it's sooner than later.

Ender , with respect, you are missing the point. I assume you went on Tuesday and if so tell me how, in any way, we resemble the shambles of the previous few seasons...

Answer = in no way at all. I appreciate your concerns and indeed agree with them re a commanding centre half however I am confident that we will have one by the end of the window. Cardiff MAY be too good for us but I hope that the buzz from the new signings may negate this.

In any event, on Tuesday EVERYTHING was different, the style, the attitude, I even saw a semblance of a patten of play emerging. In short, when DM finds his best 11 and once the team settles down, yes, I do expect us to be closer to the top of the table than the bottom...

Unfounded optomism...? - not at all, some people have badly underestimated DM and what he will build here but I see it and soon, so will others (includiung the stupid bookies)...

I just think the SUPERB job the management team have done on the squad during pre-season training (not to mention mid summer meetings) have fired up the entire club. Players that have looked so-so for a while suddenly are playing with a spring in their step. The resulting confidence is spreading through the team, across the pitch and over the boundaries to the supporters, and now we are expecting big things. A few points here:

1) There is absolutely nothing wrong with having high expectations. We are Bristol City and its what we should expect.
2) We were unlucky against Forest, and if we'd got Baldock/Davis earlier then we could very easily have come away with the points.
3) Gillingham was not consistent with what we saw from City pre-season, or at Forest or against Palace. Therefore we should not judge our team by that performance, which was a dumb-arsed night at the office.
4) There is absolutely no reason why Del cant go and get a surprise CH and we get to the play-offs, or even better. We did it once before and it can be done again
5) Yes we could still get relegated but its not where MY money is going. My wager is on top 6 and I'm not a betting man

100% agree we can easily hit the playoffs with this squad, I have no doubt about it.
Watch us beat Cardiff today, then watch all the pundits start squirming

You should always listen to the wisemen on this site and believe as they do. The hoodoo has been lifted and exorcised so all that feared to go to AG can now return in safety because Derek is in charge.
