So Pardew is on BBC sports website lauding how Remy was best player on the pitch, I understand he may be giving praise and building up the lads confidence BUT

He keeps reminding everyone how good he is and this is also what he did with Cabaye (look what happened there) so IMO this really lessens the possibility of us keeping him.

He looks happy, the reaction after the goal and interaction with his teammates is good but will he swap all that for more money? Chance of silverware?

Yes I think so, oh I just answered my own question...:emoticon-0108-speec

like most mercenaries as we've already found out once with him, Remy will go to whoever offers him the best deal.

Pardew has also stated that our chances of signing Remy diminish with every goal he scores. Nothing like having a little conviction that he might want to stay or that we could offer enough to secure him permanently.
Pardew may well just come out and say, we have nothing to offer that this lad would want, we are not good enough or an attractive enough option to keep him.

It beggars belief that he shows so little respect for the club, it might be true that Remy wont stay, but surely he should be bigging us up and claiming that there is no reason why Remy wont stay as we are a super club with a great team spirit etc etc .

Agreed. Pardew is more defeatist than most of the fans when it comes to keeping players. Would be refreshing to hear him say we will try our hardest to keep a player at the club.

These comments p*ssed me off. It portrays an unprofessional image of the club. Acknowledge he is doing a good job for us. State the clubs desire to keep the player. No more questions please.

To be fair to Pards, he can't really win on this front. He doesn't have any control over signings and is probably right about the club being unlikely to sign Remy. So what should he say, "yes we're confident of signing Remy long term" only for it to be a blatant false hope? He'd then get everyone shouting at him for being a liar.

    So his options are:
    > Speak his mind, tell the truth - and have people say he's negative.
    > Lie to keep the fans' hopes up - and have people say he's a liar and 'Ashley's puppet'.
    > Say nothing to disguise his thoughts - and have people complain he doesn't care / doesn't have any emotion about the club and doesn't communicate with the fans.

I think he's chosen the right option. Tell it like it is and set expectations where they should be. IF Ashley then surprises everyone by coughing up the money that actually keeps Remy (and not just the usual token "we tried but it wasn't to be" bull), then it will be a nice surprise.

I know a lot of people dislike Pards, but I think he's seen how things are with Ashley in charge and is being realistic. I think him saying things like this help put pressure on Ashley to show his cards. It helps force the issue. Either back Pards and make every effort to sign Remy, or stay quiet and let Remy slip out the door. Over to you Mike.

I don't think he would want to stay tbh ..but I wouldn't be crying ova it that's for sure ..

id value him at about 6 mil tops .. wasn't falling for the hoddle hype..

Didn't like him before he came here, still don't like him. He's only here for the cash.

If that's referring to what I said, I was referring to Pardew.

There is some of confusion about his loan agreement. Do we have an option to buy in the summer? I am guessing he had a relegation release clause in his contract when they went down. I for one wouldn't mind if the majority of the Cabaye money was spent on bringing this lad in on a permanent basis. Ashley knows we need a goalscorer to protect his investment as without Remy who knows where we would be.

He also knows that Gomis is free in the summer and he likes a gamble.

I doubt he'll ever play for QPR again though... Not saying he'll stay here but hell move to a better team.

In order for him to stay, we'd need to demonstrate even the slightest hint of ambition in developing the squad, replacing players who have moved on, and bringing in replacements for others who just simply aren't good enough for the starting 11 week in week out.

Selling Cabaye...probably one of our best players this season thus far only shows us out to be an organisation taking gambles and hoping it pays off, and by that I mean buying cheap and selling on for profit....bit like Ashley's Sports Direct empire really !

That being said, all is not lost I feel. I think we have a better chance of keeping him now that Joe Kinnear is out of the picture. If we can shift Cisse on and tie up LDJ on a permanent deal and replace Cabaye as well as a couple of other additions he may be able to be persuaded....but we'd need to dangle a big **** off brown bag of cash in front of his nose as well, and send one onto old Saggy Chops at the same time !

If I'm honest, I don't think he'll stay. I'd like to be proven wrong, but out of the two loanee strikers we currently have, I would put my money on LDJ being made permanent rather than Remy. He's already come out and said he'd love stay and wants to put in performances that will earn him a permanent move. Maybe he can bring the best out of Cisse again...and he'll be like a new signing to us !
