I believe every player has a price on his head no matter if the club says nobody is for sale. The difference now is we can demand top dollar for them and it has to be a lot more than what we value them privately. At least we now know we don't have to give players away for less than what they are worth to us. I don't think any of our players want to go anywhere and we will turn down some high bids as not being high enough while we look to bring in players who will see us as a well run club and one of the best outside the top 5....... Monk however will be a wanted man by clubs no better than us so i cant see him moving on. .A big club will be monitoring his career though you can be certain of that but it's too early to take a chance on him imo.
Maybe I'm be being over optimistic Dai, but I don't anyone moving other than possibly Taylor. I do see interest in Ki, Gilfi and Shelvey but think, unless its from top 4, they will stay. Monk is here for a while yet. It will take a lot to move him this year as he is embedded in the Swans culture and a co conspirator in our systems and playing styles. He's very young and there is no need for him to be looking elsewhere yet. Even with this year behind him he's still far too inexperienced for a top 4, Champions League club and why would he want to move sideways. I agree, he'll be here next year.
We are now an established Premier League team with not many better than us at present. So unless one of the big four or an equivalent club in Europe come in for one of them I think they will stay and that includes Taylor.
Taylor is a funny one as he is prone to throw his toys out of his pram if he is not first choice...But he has done very well this season even though i think Davies was a better LB.....Every man and his dog knows that monk is after a quality LB and should The threats from Taylor materialize Then monk should call his bluff and off load him and acquire 2 quality LB's........
It's not about money though. it's about him being guaranteed first team football and he cant do that....
The two that we will have to fend off poaching are Ki and Monty, for obvious reasons, Ki has been super cool mr consistent, with an eye for goal too, and Monty is one tricky winger that any top four team would love to have, Ki's old man has apparently been hitting at a Liverpool move for his boy, not sure if there is any truth in it, but these two will have interest this summer in my opinion...............
I thought we were planning to spend some pre-season time in South Korea? Ki will be key to that if it goes ahead.......
I meant I would rather have someone who was upset about being left out of the first team rather than someone who just sat back and accepted it.
All I can say is if the player wants to go, then go we will replace you with the money we receive from selling. And might I add at a considerable profit.
Ki in recent weeks hasn't been starting or has been taken off. I have to say he look less than pleased when he came off on Monday. I hope and believe he will stay, but if we start to not use him will be on his toes. As for Monty I don't think he will be going anywhere. He has a few injury issues and these have been well publicised another season for him like this without the injuries may attract some attention. As for Taylor, I still believe we have to sign another LB and if I am Honest one who is as good if not better than him. 1. It makes sure he cant relax. 2. We need 2 good players in each position (as showed during his suspension and no cover), 3. If he does keep playing funny buggers we can tell him to **** off.
Some are money orientated others getting first team starts for trophies, euros etc... But what we have going for us now at last is the sales pitch that were a club on the up year on year for ages and primed for an assault on the top 4 ! so who wants to come along for the ride if you think your good enough ?
I don't see any of our top players leaving tbh. All Monk will have to do is indicate to them how Bonys move has gone at Man City. The only ones that will leave will be the ones we don't need/want That said, we still need a new LB, RB, GK, Winger and 2 strikers imo.
Swansea City transfer news: Gerhard Tremmel set for Swans exit as club reportedly agree fee for Heerenveen goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt 11:39, 13 May 2015 By Chris Wathan According to reports, 25-year-old Swedish international Norfeldt is set for a move to the Liberty Stadium this summer Gerhard Tremmel looks set to leave the Liberty Stadium at the end of the season – and Swansea City could be ready to pounce for Sweden star Kristoffer Nordfeldt to replace him. German goalkeeper Tremmel sees his current contract run out at the end of the season and it is understood there is unlikely to be a new agreement to see the back-up stopper stay on in South Wales. Monk had hinted last month the veteran – who turns 37 in November – could be on his way out after admitting discussions over his future had taken place and it is known that a new goalkeeper to push No.1 Lukasz Fabianski is on the agenda for this summer’s transfer activity. And it has been reported that 25-year-old Nordfeldt is a serious target for the Swans with reports in the Netherlands and in Scandinavia claiming a fee has been agreed with Dutch outfit Heerenveen over a deal.
I was with JJ today, he's pumped up and said so are the rest of the team, they're hoping for Europe . He's staying don't worry about that mate and said there's a good feeling at the club !
