Looking at 1970's action we had plenty. Aside from crap short corners, ones that don,t beat the near post. It's so basic but can earn us many points.Am I expecting too much?
Yes - think I heard a stat recently that said that less than 10% of goals scored in the PL were from corners anyway (except for Stoke and West Brom, who were closer to 15% - I wonder why). Less goals seem to get scored now from corners, probably because of all the holding and pushing that goes on anyway. So even a fancy routine probably would only net us 5 goals in a season on top of what we already score. Now, get us a decent 'fox-in-the-box" type player, who knows where the goal is and is not afraid to sit on the shoulder of the last defender, that would be more profitable for goals scored, and more entertaining to watch.
We've had loads of players that seem to chicken out when the boots are flying. Do we need one that's a Costa Brava?
We already have a corner/free kick routine - Olly has invited Don McClean and Peter Glaze in to choreograph it
