.........your recent game against Man City! I would love to see how you beat them. While I am not in 'bits' over yesterdays result as I did not expect us to win, I am hurting a little by the scoreline. It suggests a massive gulf but for the most part of the game there wasn't that much in it, indeed the match stats show 50/50 possession! So, have any of you guys seen enough of our game with them to draw a fair comparison with your recent match? City are the only team to have dished out 2 hidings to us this season and I can live with that as it could have been much worse if the pundits had been right in August and we were sitting bottom of the league now. Yesterday just about cemented your survival so well done on that achievement and another convincing scoreline - good to see the goals coming back I hope we can both have a reasonable end to the season and take a few more points to make the survival look more convincing, and in all honesty I think we will.
The biggest difference imo was we did`nt face Teves on fire and his link up play with Aguero was superb ! You were unlucky with Drurys ( i think it was him ) first chance great run and shot could have been slid in by your player at far post !. And Holts header cleared off line and he missed a few other chances . After a good start but no goals from you Man c grew into the game more and Teves & Aguero ran riot though i agree a harsh final score line, with Surmans goal at 2-1 down you were still well in it . Your keeper could have done a bit better with one or two of thier goals and Bennets slack back pass towards the end gifting Teves 3rd goal and Drury the same where they hit the bar. SO the difference was Teves and you not keeping more possesion and neet passing triangles No shame losing to them and the money they have. When we lost to them in our first game in the prem it was a baptism of fire and they went on from us with the confidence to win loads But we may still be able to dictate who wins the title though when we beat Man utd away
Teves is awesome and made all the difference, we were at our best at home and city were at their worse that day......it was a fantastic result but i dont kid myself if we played them 10 times we would probably lose 9....
They were moody and broody the day we played them. Balotelli shooting from the half way line when Vorm was in his goal. Yaya and Balotelli having a bust-up in the tunnel. And we have to thank Sian Massey for correctly spotting a marginal offside when Micah Richards 'equalised'.
As above. They were disorganised and petulant when they came here. All over the place. On the other hand we really got at them and played really well. No Tevez of course. I actually think Norwich did very little wrong yesterday, but Bennet had a really poor game I thought.
I think the difference was the fact Man City expected to turn up and just walk away with 3 points. That, along with them not playing well, gave us the inititive. Yesterday they were at they're absolute best. Tevez, Aguero and Silva all playing like they can, I think they would have hammered anyone.
We made them play bad and they get petulant and moody when they were getting nothing of the ball. It was like a different team to the one we lost to on the first game of the season. Then we are a different team also, but think we will lose far more than win in future games.
It's just down to results on the day .... everyone has there one offs that can't be explained . You could play them tomorrow & beat them with the same team . The best judge for any team is after 38 games .
I think we dodged a bullet not paying big money and signing bennet TBH! Early days for him but i think he is way over priced. Man city were just different class on the day, no shame in that, though because we kept the ball from them they didnt have a chance to build up any rythem and they got frustrated with that. Norwich have their weak points just like us, so the odd hammering is to be expected in this league. we are both safe and have done really well, it will be intresting to see how both clubs cope with keeping their best players in the summer, this will be key to prem survival part 2
No shame in that result. MC, with Tevez and Aguero in particular were on fire. You were deservedly well in the game until the final 15 minutes when everything they touched turned to gold - aided by a couple of defensive mistakes which we know all about!! Man City faltered against us because I think they believed they just had to turn up to win. When they didn't get a sniff of the ball for the first 30 minutes they hauled off Gareth Barry and changed tactics but it was too late. We had gained momentum, belief and confidence, even after our missed penalty, and matched them blow for blow. Whilst we were at the top of our game, people wrongly claimed that Man City had an off day. That happened because our possession game frustrated them and forced them into areas they weren't familiar with. After all, it is usually Man City keeping the ball, applying pressure and asking the questions. They are still a terrific team, though, and almost dragged the game back. Not to be because we matched them all the way and should have had a second goal at the end when Sinclair failed to find an empty net from the halfway line a la Darren Pratley. Don't whittle about it. You, like us have had a great season and deservedly will stay up for another crack at it next season.
...and yet it's curious that some Norwich fans criticise the way we play. Maybe they should have taken a leaf out of our possession book yesterday. http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/136799-Swansea
Well I agree with that ivor. Our style worked well against Man City but Toon out-thought us. Yesterday, Norwich allowed City to play - fatal when their top players are on-song. Had they used our possession style of play they may have lost but not by 1-6.
They have been guilty of that a few times this season, Spurs at home, Man City away (obviously), Sunderland away. Just one of those PL moments when he refuses to select a defensive side. Worked well in L1 & Championship but needs some tweaking at this level.
The big difference was that Norwich decided to play an open game against them and got tuned. They should have been 2-0 down in the first 10 mins AND Tevez should have had a penalty. Norwich fans have been criticising us for being boring and not having a go - losing 6-1 is what happens if you leave wide open spaces for International footballers to attack.
I cannot argue with that and another comment on our board - Swans have played their way and we are only 1 point ahead! Both styles have their merits on any particular day I guess and neither are very well suited for other occasions. That is why we are mid table teams at best
I think Norwich were poor defensively, and teams like ManCity will always punish you for that, it's one thing to have your defence exposed, but another to defend poorly, but you did both against ManCity, Lambert got it wrong in my view, and should have played a much tighter game!............
i thought you`d shipped four goals against them at the start of the year????.......if the real man city stood up then no team in the prem would have a chance of beating em........even the mighty swans would struggle by the way well done on the result the weekend jacks.....looks like ur in the panto league again next season
Yes, we shipped 4 goals against them in the first game of the season, away at their ground. A team of lower league players going to one of the biggest stadiums in the league against the most expensive team in the world to play their team's first ever game in the Premier League... 4-0 was a good result under the circumstances! 7 months later, 7 months experience at this level, we keep a clean sheet and win the game against the same team. Go figure...
A league that so many of you lot are dying to enter , you just need to over come your fear of heights and you'll be fine
