Since the season finished Iâve logged onto Not606 religiously, occasionally posting, but mainly taking in the views of its many esteemed (and some not so much) Rs fans. Itâs clear that what should have been a joyous summer has turned into somewhat of a farce, orchestrated in the most part by Bernie and Flav. But are we really doing ourselves any favours by doom-mongering before a ball has even been kicked? Yes, with the squad we have now we will be scrapping for 17th place come May, but so will Norwich, Swansea, Wigan, Wolves and West Bromâ¦.. Yes, our back-four lacks pace and will struggle against the likes of Rooney, Torres and Bale, but the same defence did keep a rather impressive 25 clean sheets last year. Yes, Kieron Dyer does give Darren Anderton a run for his money in the sicknote stakes, but he seems hungry, has a point to prove and Premiership experience in abundance. Yes, Taarabt is a temperamental prima donna whoâd sell his own soul for a big club move, but heâs the one player with the magic to turn a game on its head and get us those vital survival points. Add to that Bothroydâs undoubted potential, the likelihood of two or three more signings and the team spirit that edged our rivals out in the title race, and weâre not the relegation certs many of you are making us out to be. Flav and Bernie aren't football men and couldn't care less what we all think - and that's not going to change any time soon. All this talk of protests, goons out and a non-existent transfer budget is taking away from the one thing we seem to have forgotten â that we are Queens Park Rangers and we are Premier League!! Now can we just start having some faith that weâll bloody well stay there!
It's going to need a little more than faith. With our current squad we don't have a hope in hell of staying up
I'm with you joey, I like your spirit. Not into all this defeatism, it's not how I live my life and it's not how I support my team. If we do go down, we go down fighting. But you never know, We might actually do ok. Chins up you super.......(that might be my new shout this season!)
I don't think that's what Joe was looking for! I see where you're coming from , but this pre-season has been ridiculous, and I'd say all QPR have the right to moan about it.
Joey, really like how you put your concerns. Rep for that. Woody: Got a lot of time for your points of view. Missed your posts of late, assumed you were on holiday but probably more like fed up with us lot. As me for, signature shows where I stand so all I can say is apologies and I'm trying to keep my woes to minimum wordage! For me its been a revelation to share my thoughts with so many Rs fans though.
And a post from Norway to put things in perspective. Terrible news mate. please log in to view this image
Now that is the funniest thing I've heard all weekend!!!! I know what you mean here though, Brixton, I also enjoy the wide ranging views on this forum. I think it does us all good to take on board differing opinions on subjects that we are all so familiar with.
It's imposible to understand and take into account the fact of what's happended. Nice with all the kind words from all over the world and fellow R's. Thanks.
swansea wolves west brom wigan norwich swansea fulham bolton sunderland stoke swansea surely we will finish above 3 of these
Agree completely, if we all had the same views the point of a forum=nada. I also believe that reading other peoples views is what makes it enjoyable. ************************************************** On another note, I think the word respect must be something we all should consider before we criticize our own players before one ball has been kicked. Respect for the work they did gettin' us promoted, they worked their r's off last season, players AND staff. They are currently working their r's off to be as ready as they possibly can before the new season kicks off. Respect, everyone, come on. They are absolutely competitive with the bottom 10 in the prem, i'm absolutely convinced of this. But, and its a big but, i'm as tense an nervous as anyone at this point in time.
I'd like to think so kiwi! Everyone does have a right to moan Northolt, and I wasn't trying to say they don't, but it's just a shame we've let it overshadow what should have been a great summer. The promotion party itself was already tainted by the Faurlin saga and there hasn't been any real optimism since - and you could argue rightly so. But I can't agree with Hoops Eternal's damning prediction. Swansea have only bought Graham (no better than Bothroyd) and a back-up goalie, Norwich have got in Vaughan and Morison, who are no better than fat man Holt, and Wolves, Wigan and West Brom will be there or there abouts come May. I'd love to see any of DJ Campbell, Crouch, Walker, Bullard, Upson or Routledge come in, but to give ourselves no chance before a ball's been kicked will no doubt transcend itself on those who line-up against Bolton - whoever they may be!! I'd love to see Flav and Bernie out, a Mittal takeover and two or three marquee signings as much as the next man, but until that happens I'll get behind what we've already got.
Hi Brixton, been finishing up a big job, reading all the time and trying to contribute but scrapping my comments for some reason! Am in Norfolk now for week of fun and relaxing with my kids, so I'm back - as long as the missus don't catch me, drives her nuts when I'm on here! Oops, here she comes, I'm outta here. Later
This seems to contain the usual perverse thinking that those who are critical of the back room goings on at LR are not 'behind the team' for some reason. Abject nonsense! When the team are on the pitch they get my 100% support. When I'm discussing the club on here, down the pub or wherever it is right and proper to question motives and objectives
