Can we all agree that Mowbray is a good manager then?

We are safe, phase 1 of promotion accomplished...

I was gutted when Neil left after such a positive start to the season with him in charge. It still beggers to believe he left us for Stoke after gaining promotion with us youd like to think he would have grew a big bond with us as a club and with the fans. Instead he bailed out on us which pretty much explains loyalty in football, remember when Gyan also left and dont get me started on Bent.

Anyway lets talk about our new main man now and thats Mogga. I see him round Teesside sometimes around Yarm, he still has his roots over here and the last time i saw him i remember thinking smoggy kunt.
Hes a legend amongst Boro fans for being a hard as nails CB and i remember as a kid when Gabbiadini, Gates and Owers were my heros my mate would have posters up of Mogga, Pallister and Slaven on his bedroom wall.
It feels surreal hes now our manager, hes been in this business a very long time and when we appointed him i honestly thought it was a panic appointment because of how quick Neil left us and i thought he might have only come to us because he had no job and after being at Blackburn we could offer him somewhere in the NE which is his home.

Can we all agree now, Mogga was an absolutely amazing replacement for Neil, hes a top bloke and we have a very bright future with him and his staff?

    Haway the lads!!!!!

Couldn't agree more mate. I was very sceptical at his appointment, but I was wrong. He's an intelligent, experienced and wise mentor for these young players and seems to be a perfect fit for the role in improving and developing them. I'm delighted with our progress this season and the football we're playing.
I haven't looked forward to matches this much since the Reidy days.

Love to listen to him enthuse about his young charges, he put his arm round those that need it and shouted when needed to as at HT v Hull.
Think he's a very intelligent man football wise, can change his formations to suit opponents and look how well he's coped without proper strikers.
Very happy he's our manager and looking forward to next season already.

I agree he’s exactly what we need just now with the kids. Putting Ekwah in for a start after giving the penalty away against Hull shows how committed he is to developing the players. Don’t believe AN would have done that. Must be a fantastic bloke to play for.

After my post the other day I better explain. I only wonder how far we can go ultimately go with Mowbray and what his top level is? Promotion definitely, prem survival maybe, push on for a comfortable mid table premiership I’m really not sure. Getting ahead of myself and thinking too far ahead. Hopefully we see a lot more fantastic football as we find out.

Hasn't TM alluded to an exciting summer in the transfer market, but have I dreamt that?

Must admit TM wouldn't have been my first choice, but he was just what the club needed with hindsight. He fits the club perfectly where we are at this moment in time. The football we play is so exciting.

Right man at the right time. Mowbray has been a breath of fresh air and plays far better football than any manager I've seen at SAFC.
I'd like to see us keep a manager for 4 or 5 seasons like some other clubs do.

TM has done a canny job to be honest and he wouldn't have been my first choice - although hands up I was screaming at him yesterday to get Roberts on earlier!!!

His teams have always played good football mind. Often " too much" for some.

But I just thought he'd seen most things in the game, including chaos at clubs and big crowds for him to be fine. But he has been very innovative with his teams and has been able to take all the players with him. That is a tough ask, and has been a very pleasant surprise.

I like to think the crowd have played a good supporting role here too.

Like others, I was surprised when he was given the job - he wouldn't have been my first choice but he seems to be the best man for the job. As others have said I don't think AN would've had the imagination of changing the formation to tackle the playing with no striker as he seems to have a set way of playing. Mowbray has been a breath of fresh air to the club, let the young lads play their game with no pressure on them and handled every setback that's been thrown at him. The fact that he has us in touching distance of the play-offs in our first season back with most players not having played in this league before AND with the brand of football being played speaks volumes for him. Kompany wil probably get Manager of the Year for the Championship for getting Burnley promoted and althoughI'm extremely biased, TM should be in with a shout of it mainly due how he's got the team performing with the average age and with the amount of injuries we've had.

I don't know anyone who wanted him before he came ...

... or anyone who isn't happy to see him here.

I suppose if a top young manager came in I'd be pleased but would prefer Mowbray to remain 'upstairs' in some capacity ...

... you wouldn't think such a dour unfashionable man could be so cool in every situation <laugh>

He lives here so could easily be a presence in the background and involved in choosing managers, players and staff ... and I bet Doris, the tea lady, loves him.

    "Another éclair Mr Mowbray?"

I am not surprised he has done well. I thought at the time he was an experienced Championship manager and a safe pair of hands.

A mate of mine was in the same year at school with Mogga, and always commented that it was a good thing that he was good at football, because he was absolutely useless at any accademic subjects. Because of that I was quite wary. However, since he's managed us I'm always impressed with the way he speaks and how he analyses the games. Maybe he's no good at solving partial differential equations, but I'd certainly not class him as thick. He certainly seems to have the "emotional intelligence" that's needed for gettuing the best out of the players.

The crowd have bought into the way we are now playing. Good football, never give up, etc etc. Been saying for years that would always be the case.

The bloke is a perfect fit for us.

He plays attractive attacking football, will happily play the kids if they are good enough, seems to have bought into the new club vision and to top it off he lives locally.

He also comes over as a really nice bloke and the players seem to like him

Was underwhelmed at the appointment, but his awareness of the area and his pre and post match interviews are always knowledgeable and spot on, and there is the small subject of playing the best football I’ve seen for a long time, couldn’t be happier now

It's always been thus with our fans, all we've ever asked is full commitment and getting stuck in, which sadly the laws of the game have weeded out now...oh for a Bolton or Kaye going full at it.
Chuck in a large dollop of skill, some cracking goals and a never say die attitude and what's not to like.
More of the same next season whichever league we end up in please.

I probably was not alone, but he would not have been my manager choice.

I think he has done well, particularly with the talented youngsters brought in. As well as dealing with long-term injuries to key players, resulting in having to deal with a squad that is not a full deck.

Hopefully the recruitment team, (TM has some influence but not enough) will not just concentrate on their bonuses for making a profit with sell ons, but listen to TM and bring players in for positions we are weak in.

    Ps its not wingers

At the outset I was underwhelmed.
I am now delighted he got the post.

His development of the young'uns is more than fabulous

His pragmatism in not having a striker is admirable

    Well done Mogga
