playing bottom of league at home tonight. Carlisle have taken 3 points from 21. 3 draws including 4-4 against Wombles, so they can score but ship goals, 17 in all coloured by a 5-0 thrashing at Cambridge. our GD of 4 compares favourably with their -11. we have enough fire power up front to cause a massive goal fest, but will it be tonight. 5-0 would do our GD some good. wonder what changes MM will make. parking at P and R tonight.
I think we'll get a win tonight. If we don't then questions need to be asked on who is starting the game and the system used. Heading into town very soon and hopefully will come home smiling !
some club is in for a real thumping. Newport? or Norwich. cannot see town getting anything at southend or argyle with our goal shy strikers, but a win is a win and we moved up tonight, Northampton 5 h/pool 1!
Plenty of opportunities squandered and that needs to change. In first half Carlisle tried to stop us playing and it was successful with town doing five passes at back then hoofing a ball up to an available player. We had a ball cleared off the line by their defence and a few shots/headers went just wide. One of our better parts of the game last night was later on when JLAA went to left wing, Mangan right, Clark in middle behind Collins. Defensively we're pretty good, NPK lost a few passes but nothing major. Ellis and Goldson worked hard to break up play, a couple of badly timed tackles by Ellis let their attack through but was mopped up by the others. Ellis also did some great shot stops to make up for it.
Decent in the first half when we should have been out of sight. Woeful wayward shooting again and Clark shooting instead of squaring the ball to Mangan who would have had an open goal. Second half increasingly desperate with Carlisle hitting the underside of the bar.
Yeah Mangan was quite peed off with that shot when he was at the back post unmarked!! Mangan and Clark worked their socks off. Surprised at Lawrence not getting a substitute appearance. Thought Vincent was good in parts and offers something different on wing.
I wonder a bit about the training when our shooting (even when under no pressure) is so very wide of the mark. It seems to me we are trying to rip the net out instead of making sure we hit the target. A bit more composure is needed but at least we continue to create chances. Results last night show this to be a very democratic league when everyone can beat even the top teams on their day so three points in any game (however easy-looking on paper) is a bonus. I missed the Carlisle game but will be there on Saturday to see a famous victory over a Welsh side.
