He won't rule himself out completely, but it's unlikely he'll play whilst manager.

No, he's a player-caretaker manager as far as we're concerned. Although, whether he'll pick himself in the playing squad when fit though is another matter.

That is my concern, I think he should be on the bench if fit he can be a good player coming on for the last 20 minutes but he might be too proud to play himself.

As I recall: he said he's not playing, initially, but hasn't ruled it out.

He has said that he is still injured and the pressures of management will stop him from becoming match fit.
I would take this to read that whilst he is the caretaker manager he will not be available. If it fails he would have to regain his fitness before taking to the pitch, but if it is a success then he will never get match fit. He hasn't hung up his boots just yet.

Your all wrong, he said to the press he's going to start himself, make himself captain, and take all the throw ins and corners and everything.

Think it was Papa who said he might do that himself.

...and take all the free-kicks, all the penalties, all the corners, not sub himself, etc....

Just reminded me of the most predictable management decision ever. Peter Taylor, first stoppage after 60 minutes, Barmby off.

He won't play whilst caretaker manager, if the job becomes permanent then he'll hang up his boots but rather sensibly he's not commiting himself to anything. He wants to be involved with the club as long as possible and is going about things sensibly.

So at present Barmby is the most successful City manager ever with a 100% win rate...............

i think Barmby would play in wellies if he has to ,
so if he feels the need to pop himself in the squad he will do that no doubt - but i reckon only if there are injuries through midefield n our erm striker

On the HDM commentary it said City were first to every ball and played with real energy. It sounds like Barmby has them playing in his own style.

They definitely played with Barmby's passion and determination, they won loads of tackles and ran for everything.

Regarding him playing though, we have to remember this 5 sub thing really limits our options. It's basically 4 outfielders to choose from, one has to be McShane/Dawson and one has to be Cairney/Evans/McKenna which leaves us just 2 attacking options, a proper striker is a must so for the last spot you can choose from Brady, Garcia (when fit obviously), Pusic, an extra striker or Barmby, so even if he was fully fit and not the manager, it'd be hard to fit him on there.
