Will Cardiff get the one point the crave to secure promotion? Can Bristol City keep their faint hopes alive? If Oldham beat Yeovil, they will relegate Hartlepool & Pompey without either team playing. Gillingham have already secured their promotion slot from L2, but will Aldershot win to jump out of the bottom two on this crucial night? An exciting evening in the Football League to follow, thoughts welcome.
Couple huge games in the Championship, as well: Leicester vs. Bolton could have a big impact on the race to the playoffs, and Blackburn/Huddersfield are fighting to escape the rather crowded relegation fight. Think that this ought to become the dedicated Football League thread...we need one to keep tabs on all the madness, now that we can be assured that we aren't a part of it.
Do we know whether the football league will carry Pompey's -10 over to next season if they are relegated without it? Over to you Lee Barnard!
If they are relegated without it, they will get it next season........unless the football league is still giving them different rules to everyone else.
They shouldn't do, if we exit administration this year. "The Football League have confirmed they intend to dock Portsmouth 10 points when they come out of administration." "But Pompey will now be penalised as and when they exit administration." "“The Club will start on zero points, with the conditions of membership announced at the Board’s previous meeting – including a ten point deduction – not coming into effect unless and until the club exits administration.”" 'It therefore reaffirmed its earlier decision that these conditions would include a deduction of 10 points (applicable at the point of transfer of share 'It therefore reaffirmed its earlier decision that these conditions would include a deduction of 10 points (applicable at the point of transfer of share)" So the football league would be going against what they said. On the other hand, the Football League pretty much do whatever they like.
Brentford have scored at Sheffield Utd which puts them in the second automatic promotion space ahead of Bournemouth by 1 point.
Blackburn 1-0, the beginning of the escape? Rhodes again, 21 goals this season and Rovers fans were tearing into him on Twitter last week.
The applicable punishment is the same punishment every club gets-- 10 points this year or 10 points the next if already relegated. It's just that the punishment was delayed for Portsmouth. And that language you are quoting is part of the agreement to delay your 10 point deduction to later instead of counting against you entering this year which was what you asked for and was intended to be for your benefit. To reverse course now and argue that the 10 points should now apply to this season because you ended up botching it anyway would really be taking the piss.
