Our innate ability to throw points away in an alarming manner is well documented and has put us in a place that borders on relegation fears. I only hope that Nigel Pearson has some aces up his sleeve that will alter our shape and ability to see games out when the chips are down. The individual player performances have not been good enough and it concerns me that something hasn't been worked out to change our style of play enough to make any difference. The high earners have not warranted their pay packets and those that have not contributed to the squad need to be moved on somewhere else. I have absolutely no idea what we pay in salaries to these guys but for most I would have to say it is way too high but I'm sure there are players out there just waiting for the chance to prove themselves at this level. I know this transfer window is generally a dodgy time of year and often the demands of potential new players are beyond belief and the prices asked are ridiculous. Where does that leave us at a time that I would call critical and where is Nigel Pearson and his back up crew looking for these game changers? The need for new life blood to change both the on-field camaraderie and results will be down to what our club do in the next 3 to 4 weeks and if the new lot can't perform any better than what we have then we could be in deep gooey stuff. Happy New Year Nigel and good luck in your endeavours.
Not sure I am looking forward to our annual new year slump in form which carries on to the end of the season.
I think NP laid his cards on table v QPR with a unbiased educated ref it could have worked. He made changes to see what would happen should any of the regular players last few games become unavailable.... KING TOTALLY SCREWED IT UP .. he was unable to do a lot for last 30 mins or so in reorganising team [ subbing] I do not think we will spend more than £5m .. maybe on 1 player and only should it be a bargain [ VFM].. probably a forward.. get 1 in and MAYBE 2 others on free's! for the future ! I am a sort of 6/10 KP fan but NP not playing him might as well let him go preferably for a fee... Also not a big fan of CM SORT OF 4/10 let him go ... [ 5/10+ is in squad play in rotation ] WIEMANN KALAS BENTLEY are 10/10 !
It will be interesting to see who becomes cannon fodder and who replaces them. Over the years we have far too many players that are deemed to be works in progress and it's time to invest in ready to go lads. One thing is for sure and that is that we have to bring home 3 points tomorrow because without them the gap towards the dreaded drop will start some rectal parts squeaking.
We’ve got no money, so as soon as we fans realise this then we will learn that we’ve got no choice but to go with what we’ve got. KP will possibly be moving on but that will be more in the mould of Adam Nagy as in free transfer just to free up wages. The coffers are empty, along with all the other championship clubs and below barring the PP teams. If it wasn't for Covid we may have relied on championship clubs being able to afford players. So unless a PP or Prem club are interested in any of our players, or Newcastle pay a fortune very early on in the window for Lloyd Kelly. Our assets have gone and down to the youth but we are skint. So this Jan will be bad as Prem clubs know we are skint so won’t even pay higher than normal fees for the one or two players we’ve got left that are actually got any value.
I agree- 'Our assets are gone'. Replaced in the main with rubbish and as you rightly say 'down to the youth'. Derby, Posh and Barnsley are our best hope.
I can remember those streaky times of the 4.5 years of ' boom and bust' - the famous '65 plus' -' 3 Windows Only & European Success' Bloody nightmare and Waffle.
Whatever next , sensible comments & logic are not welcome, we want at least five new top championship players this window SL is a multi billionaire don’t you know, get real man !
How many times do you need to be told, LJ was the massiah, for 4 years we were challenging for promotion, now he’s gone look how much worse off we are. It’s nothing to do with overspending, selling our best players and replacing them with overpriced dross, that was just coincidental edit Oh and on a completely different subject, arise Sir Tony!
Pretty much all Championship teams are broke after the last 20 months. Only those on Premiership parachute payments can afford much. Everyone has had to reduce their squad size and release players on high wages, and not been able to sell to spend. It's not just City, although you'd be forgiven for thinking it on here
I hear this on here a lot, but I prefer to look at stats, and the number of games we have lost beyond the 90 min point when they are out on their feet, suggest otherwise...
But the squad that was inherited by us was of such a high calibre we should make £m's according to what we've been told continuously on here..
No, as nobody has money to spend Also, with this new high experience manager who deserved his job, over one who was Landsdowns mate (allegedly), he should be doing much better with any squad than LJ, but yet he isn't...
It’ll be a problem until we are able to keep possession for any length of time, continually being on the back foot is exhausting. We are improving in this regard, QPR was different, even with only 10 men we weren’t constantly over run.
