I feel that on this occasion we should thank the big lad. I'm grateful that Mike Ashley sold the club to people who are more than able to take us forward. For once, and it shouldn't be lost on us, that he's pulled a blinder.
Despite the hatred, lack of ambition, ridiculous appointment and 50 year contracts and **** I have to give credit where credit is due. We are debt free largely thanks to him, from a a financial perspective he has ran NUFC very well as a business but shockingly as a football club. Aside from that he took the premier league on and won, not many people have done or will do that. He will mostly be remembered for all of the **** ups, dancing in nightclubs with his top off and downing pints etc unfortunately for him but he’s thick skinned so probably not arsed about any of it.
Thank you for selling us to right people, that is all. I do NOT thank you for being a ****ing **** - ie lying repeatedly to the fans, draining the life out of our club, getting us relegated twice, getting us manage by Joe ****ing Kinnear, trying to call our ground the Sports Direct Arena, driving Rafa out, and being an utter ****ing embarrassment to everyone who sees us. So yeah, Ashley will always be a **** in my eyes.
Exactly this: we can’t really thank him. I’ve lost 14 years of love for the club. Watched some real **** football. Put up with a lot of ****. The club and stadium are falling to bits. There is a clean slate for PIF because he systematically stripped it to the bare bones.
Couldn't agree more. I'm just grateful that we didn't go to the 2021 version of the Venkys. That's the only positive I have for the bloke.
It could have been really bad. Particularly with the whole COVID farce. Things could have been different, with a cut your losses and run scenario. In a weird way we were lucky to have someone as awkward as Mike. Still can't thank the **** though, he spoilt a big part of my life for 14 yrs the ****.
I’m hindsight I am going to say - wait for it - 14 years of misery is a fair trade for now being THE club to watch for the next decade. Mildly rich owners wouldn’t be enough these days, to crack the ceiling you must have a Mansour or Abramovich as a minimum… to create the next floor up you need PIF. We got PIF, no other club in the world got PIF - we did; Ashley gets credit for that bit Long game, fate, realism there.
He's a cheap ****er, how long before he asks us to post those big sports direct signs to Derby County?
