In a new series, I intend to find out which factors affect a player reaching his potential, including examples to follow and examples to avoid. Part 1: Versatility - a poisoned chalice? http://hitrowz.com/2013/07/16/fulfilling-potential-part-1/
Interesting thread, I look forward to more investigation. On a slightly different topic, I see that Jose and others at CFC are talking up the youth academy, and the important role it will play in the near future. It certainly seems as if the kids will get more game time this year, which is a great breakthrough for us I think. Assume they will play in rotation mode, and feature more significantly in non PL and CL games. I hope we don't go all out for every prize and play too many games again, better to target 2 comps and use the others for experience and experimentation. Interesting times indeed.
Like I said in the thread specifically on Victor Moses, its a very interesting article. I look forward to more from you.
Certainly think some of the youngsters will get a chance under Jose in the next 1-2 years. Who is open for debate but De Bruyne and Lukaku will probably get a fair amount of game time this year at least.
This has been my biggest disappointment since Roman came. The manager merry-go-round irks me somewhat, but the failure of the academy to produce decent players who make it into our main team. We have had loads of them bigged up in recent years, Carlton Cole, Jimmy Smith, Josh McEachran, Sturridge. All of them make the fringes at best and then end up flogged!
To be fair though, none of the youth products we let go have set the world alight (yet!). If this current batch don't produce a hand full of regulars though something is wrong.
Thanks very much. I think he's a great talent, just concerned he might drown amongst the other midfield talent in the squad
