A nothing article on the BBC website on an otherwise quiet day I guess.

Once fit, has Bunn got any chance of keeping Ruddy out of the starting XI?
For me it has to be a definite and emphatic no, despite his much improved performances of late.

    Anyone think different?

No, but I feel far more comfortable with Bunn than I did a few months ago so wouldn't want to rush Ruddy back. I wonder if the improvements could be partly due to Dave Watson as well as hard work from Bunn.

Ruddy has grown into one of the best keepers in the league and so has to start when fit.

No chance, don't get me wrong though, Bunn is a good keeper to have in reserve.

Been very impressed with Bunn despite doubting the logic of getting him in the first place, but it's still a NO!

After a couple of dodgyish games to start with Bunn has been superb in recent weeks and hasn't let us down at all. Interestingly he has now played more league games than Ruddy this season now, however I'm with the concensus than when fit JR will wear the keeper's jersey without question.

I have a little sympathy for Bunny and wonder if he really believes he can keep big John out. I am sure he would love to be able to but it's never likely to happen.

If we are safe I could see Bunn keeping his place just to make sure JR does not get a further injury and that would make a lot of sense but would only expect him to be on the bench come August.

Well I think we now know we have a good reserve keeper, but Ruddy is very impressive. I wonder if Bunn is kind of trying to perform well to get a contract with another prem club as first choice next year

Ruddy is a class above but bunn is possibly the most important signing we've made this season. Earned us points and performed admirably.

Not having senior cover last year was a huge gamble. Probably reckless.

It's going to be interesting, and they won't rush Ruddy back. one train of thought is to not change a settled back 5.
I can see ruddy be on the bench for a handful of games, but will eventully take his no1 back by the end of the season if fully fit

I always maintained that Bunn would be OK with Dave watson to coach him, but once JR is FULLY fit, I expect to see him back in goal. Just goes to show that CH knew what he was doing when he signed Bunn at the start of the season.

No, but it's not an outright no. Ruddy is our number 1 'keeper but Bunn has done incredibly well this season for what he is. It's not quite like Martin and Whittaker who have been keeping each other out at times due to form and only getting back into the first team when the other ones injured.

I'd say no, but equally that there's no need to rush Ruddy back. Let Ruddy be 100% fit before he even gets near the goal again, Bunn has performed well enough that we don't need to rush back Ruddy.

Ruddy is a lot more heroic and has super aerial and handling abilities he'll get his place back, that said Bunn has been superb this season and has really developed his game many aspects he was struggling with his improved on immensely I'm very glad to have him in the squad.

I'm very happy with Bunn as a number 2, but I wouldn't want him as a first choice if Ruddy left.

Not a definite 'no' by any means for me. Sometimes it is the case that a player comes back from injury and is never the same again, though hopefully that won't be the case.

What will work in Bunn's favour is Hughton's reluctance to drop players once they are established in the first team, certainly compared to a certain Paul Lambert. Many people would argue Whittaker is a better right-back than Russell Martin, yet the latter is starting every game at the minute since Whittaker's injury.

Should also add, it was terrific foresight by Hughton to get Bunn in, because with the best of respect to Rudd or Steer, without him we would probably not have had 9 clean sheets or whatever the figure was.

I don't think Bunn can keep Ruddy out in the long term, but I'd be very surprised to see Ruddy play again this season. Bunn is playing well enough at the moment and there's no point rushing Ruddy back when he's going to be short of match fitness and sharpness. May as well let Bunn see out the season and let them fight it out in pre-season.

Would be really good for Bunn if he gets to play out the season, Dazz. Would even be interesting if Ruddy plays back up to Bunn for the last couple of games when we've confirmed our safety would be great for Bunn.

I know we all want our best players to be starting and I prefer Ruddy over Bunn but nothing wrong with hinting at Bunn that he can compete for the number 1 shirt which would further boost his performances as well as Ruddy's.

So it could have a positive impact instead of the negative impact of Ruddy never reaching his good form again which has been said but I think that's unlikely.

I have backed Bunn right from his first couple of shaky games and I am really pleased that he has done so well. However, in my opinion it has got be Ruddy when fit.
