The other day I accidentally closed this site down. I then returned and had to log in my username etc to gain access, however when the site opens I get the recent 'stickies' but the rest of the threads are dated from 2011. I then have to go back to the main forum site, press on Premiership and then Sunderland and then the site opens up with the up to date threads. Any idea why this is happening or am I doing something wrong. I'm not clever computer wise and this has got me baffled.
Thanks BRI but my screen says add to multiview, there is no mention of start date in the position you have marked on the screen, any ideas?
I've done that and it brings up the up to date threads, however when I go off site and then return I still have the 2011 threads, am I just being thick?
If you press PrtSc it will copy whatever is on your screen. then if you right click in the comments box and paste, you should be able to show us what you're looking at. I Could help us solve your problem Make sure there's no personal info on the screen though
Hmmmmmm. I can only imagine you're possibly allowing your search bar to complete as you type and it's going to a URL that has the setting of the page different to how you want it. Try scrape the URL down to the bare bones if so. Other than that I'm a little stumped. We're not the most technical on here.
You need to be in the forum section too, not the multi view. All that does is merge different boards together if you want to follow more than one at once.
Thanks BRI but I'm on a kindle at the present and dont have the lap top handy, just to say you are dealing with a computer numpty and I've no idea about pasting etc so will soldier on until I can get my hands on the laptop.
This is my thinking. Deleting cookies should solve that so the default address in the url bar changes so the set out is normal.
100% you're going to the wrong URL. Maybe get to the page as you want it and create a bookmark to get in that way.
You probably have an old Sunderland page saved in your 'favourites' so when you write www.not606... it autocompletes based on your favourites and you just click enter. As a side note... The worst thing about this site by the way, is for some reason, when you click the not606 logo at the top of the page it logs you out, but pressing 'back' will log you back in again, it's bloody broke ah tell the. That logo was always my way of returning to the home screen.
I'm going to blow your mind here Tel(well, probably not). Pressing the logo does take me back to the site's home screen and it doesn't log me out. Looks like the glitches now attack random individual users. 29,142 members with glitches spreading randomly among the users. It's going to take so much work to fix this site. It's going to die it's going to die!
Oh really? Well I must be one of the chosen ones then. It happens on all of my devices, kept asking for my password, which I couldn't remember and obviously the email reminder will never get delivered to your inbox cos of that other ****ing glitch, so if I ever end up logged out and need to reset my password, I'm gone for good There must be a black hole of lost posters, who can't log back in.
I theory the site could be ****ed completely for some users. It's all coding init, if the code that connects an individual user's account to the main forum is corrupted, they'd just get a 'this site can't be reached' when they tried to access it. Great analogy on the black hole. Cause it will grow and suck more in until it gets everything.
Right lads I've cotton ontonto the laptop and that is working fine. The start date that you mentioned BRI is on the lap top but for some reason is not on my kindle. I've managed to find a short cut to obtaining what I need to do by using the last message function when using the kindle which I find much easier to use than the lap top. Thanks to you all for your help and suggestions I knew you lads wouldn't let me down.
For info, if you tip that kindle on it's side, in future you will get more options, probably including the start date thingy. The page options are compressed on mobile devices.
