There are reports today that Exeter have renewed their interest in Campbell. They may take him on loan prior to a contract offer of maybe 2 years.
Forgetting all the 'emotional' reasons for wanting to keep Campbell, ie his attitude and commitment, I think we still need him. Against Aldershot he was our best player and he is still a leader on the field; though it is noticeable that Buckle doesn't give him the armband when Gill is not around. If Gill is not fit this weekend and Virgo not chosen I wonder who will get it.
Anyway...I reckon we still need Campbell, and Buckle is failing to see his importance, or, worryingly, doesn't like to have him around.
    SOS....Save Our Stewie !

Agree Cambs is still a vital part of the squad but fear that Buckle will shift him at the 1st opportunity as any remnants of the old regieme are systematically cleared out.

Agreed he still does a job for us in the holding midfield position but .... his age and his wages are against him. If he does go then I see Stanley taking his place for now, and possibly him bringing in a good holding passing central midfielder - don't know what this Ollie Norburn can do yet - maybe PB will try and get him on a seasons loan if he is any good.

how does a stewie griffin thread end up about keith millen and our future manager?

And id rather be bottling it in the championship year in year out then hanging round in league 2 for the next 50 years ;)

How do you think Campbell would do in BCFC midfield,I've always rated him and I don't think he would do a bad job for a season in the Championship....Serious......

Really? Two years ago, I'd say that he could do a good job for you - never stops going, steely and determined, rarely gives the ball away and not afraid to put in a tackle. But now, whilst he's still a sound L1/L2 player, I'm not quite sure that he could hack it in the Championship. I could be wrong though, it's been known....!

Put it this way wize....when I saw City reserves a few times I thought LJ was a poor man's Campbell.
Does that make sense ? Definitely the best on-field captain I have ever seen.

I dont think it will be so bad without Campbell to be honest. I think he has been a fantastic servant to our club, but time is going by fast and we need younger legs in the side to help this fast paced rovers side.

I know he's on his last legs but still he often looks like the only player on the field who CARES
about Bristol Rovers. Gill looks injury prone and Stanley is a carthorse. Buckle seems wary of
Campbell's popularity, rather than embracing and utilizing it.
