At least we won't be losing Bassong for the Africas Cup. Cameroon were knocked out by the CApe Verde Islands.

cameroon were the african nation when i first started watching football. they got to the world cup quarter finals in '90 and again in '94 i think, with roger milla in tow, a real african super power. they've been surpassed by many since then like ghana and the ivory coast to name just two, but its still a shock to me when they don't qualify for world cups and now even the african nations cup!

It was cameron initially supers, then Nigeria as well. Nigeria still seem to strong, but as you say cameron have lost their way a bit. Defo will watch the african cup of nations, some good football usually on show, and often some shocks like Zambia wining the last one.

Zaire were one of the first to make an impact but Algeria were the first to cause a shock when they beat the then West Germany. That led to the infamous WG v Austria 1-0 set up where they both qualified.

I remember that redruth. It was the '82 World Cup in Spain, I believe. It was scandalous how they got away with that.

Even the West German fans were angry at the obvious collusion and we were all extremely delighted when Italy spanked them in the final.

That was the year when a certain goalie should have been locked up, never mind sent off.
