Dinamo Bucharest and Cameroon midfielder Patrick Ekeng has died aged 26 of a suspected heart attack after collapsing on the pitch.Ekeng fell to the floor in the 70th minute of a televised Romanian league match between Dinamo and Viitorul. He was pronounced dead 2 hours later.Ekeng had also previously played for Le Mans and Lausanne. In 2003,Cameroon midfielder Marc-Vivien Foe died after collapsing during a Confederations Cup match against Colombia in France. His international team-mate Stephane Mbia tweeted 'Our Cameroon football family has lost a brother.I cannot believe this, condolences to his family. RIP Patrick Ekeng.
I echo his sentiments, tragic loss of a gifted footballer and man. RIP.

    RIP Patrick.

This happening on the pitch once is too often. I have heard of at least twice this season in our non-league where players have collapsed with heart attacks, but thankfully they were saved.

Probably a stupid question, but are people too fit these days & this causes stress to the heart?
