Blatantly nicked from the Arsenal board, but it appears that Raymond "Mystic Mug" Domenech has failed to predict how his team wouldn't do well enough.

Good news for Spurs, as we won't lose Assou-Ekotto or Bassong to the tournament in January, but I feel sorry for both the players and their countrymen.
Samuel Eto'o could probably do with a break from the Russian winter at around that time, for a start.

    Thief <laugh>

You're right, good news for you, you keep Benny
Good news for us, we keep Song.

Eto'o is just going to have to learn how to build snowmen

Only Steven Pienaar left in it, I think.
    That gets sorted tonight, too.

So that means that no Spurs players will go to the African Nations, then.
A bit odd, when you think that we have 5, including Khumalo.

    What's also odd:

"Of the last 9 African Cup of Nations winners, only Tunisia will be at the 2012 tournament in January"

African football is becoming a bit of a joke really isn't it, you only have to look at two of their biggest names (Gyan and Eto'o) and the clubs they play for to realise this.

That's just a couple of individuals chasing money, WY.
African football as a whole has progressed well in recent years.

They're not just a couple of individuals though are they, they're probably the two biggest footballing figureheads on the African continent (Drogba aside), it's shameful that they have chosen money over sporting achievement and they will only encourage more african footballers to do the same.

True, though I think that there are mitigating circumstances in both cases.
Eto'o was probably looking for a last payout, though I'd suggest that he's done it far too early and the whole Gyan situation seems suspect, to me.
