I think that this topic has had some coverage earlier, but with his impending return, I wonder what he has to do to fit into our current team. a striker perhaps in the mould of Theo Walcott? a right wing back in the mould of Elmohamdy? a centre back in the mould of Macca perhaps? (OK maybe not) Wherever he fits, its sure he needs to tough up and shake off his injury.
Feel free to pull my up on this but under SB every player has improved from last season. I don't know what he does but it works, if he can do the same with Cammy then it could be scary if he gets back to his old form. I think he'll play up front when he does play like Theo Walcott
Needs to put that bottom lip away,or he's in danger of being the worst thing you can be,a waster ! We know he has it in him to be premier league, but does he ?
I hope cam comes back with the right attitude, It'd be a like a new 2 million quid signing. I do wonder how he would fit into a 3 5 2 though. Cam's an old fashioned weedy winger, they are few and far between nowadays.
Like you say Mussie those are the only two roles he could play in our current system. From memory he played as a rwb at Donny away in the cup and didn't exactly set the world alight. So I would suggest as a striker is probably where he'll make the most impact.
His best games before his injury were through the middle with Simpson so theres that option. You could always have him on the bench and change the system if needs be too. If we get the Stewart either side of the injury you make room for him, if we get him from March(ish) then hes going to fade away, which would be a shame because hes a good player.
Could be a great striker if Bruce gets his confidence and demeanour right but wonder if he has lost his way after the injury, he lost his way before Pearson signed him but he saw something in him, depends if Bruce does the same. He fits in well with our younger players.
This difficult time at Burnley might just have knocked some sense into his head, that he has to get his head down and prove his worth. I think all that talk about going to Lesta turned his head a bit, and he has come down to earth with a bump. I agree with those late saying his best position is maybe down the middle, using his pace to run onto balls, and SB with his obvious good man management skills, can I am sure get the best out of him in time.
His best position should be on the bench and that's at a push, he's nowhere near good enough. Didn't rate him first time round and he 's gradually got worse. He appears to be one of those players that people forget just how **** he was for the vast majority of the time. He has absolutely no end product to speak of and his attitude is a shocker. He 's destined to end up playing non league football. IMO.
Cam got in a rut when we needed them to up their standards, ie during March. It was thew whole team not just him, bt his attitude seemed to be bad. And that was picked up by the crowd. I wasn't surprised when Burnley never played him. I thought he's be an option here, but only as back up.
I definitely remember him saying he'd never been a goalscorer. His trick was to use his pace and skill to get to the by-line, and pulling the ball back for the likes of Koren to finish.
Alternatively his trick was to do seventeen step overs and then lose the ball. Either that or hit it that far over the bar the bloke in Kings kebabs had to board up his windows whenever we were at home. I also have it on very good authority it wasn't just the fans who didn't like his attitude.
Get his finger out, work a lot harder than he usually does (learn about tracking back), stop drifting in and out of games - especially when on the receiving end of a solid tackle or two. I honestly don't see him getting a look in at the moment and barring an injury crisis at the club I will be surprised if he even makes the bench!
There were two Stewarts though. The one before Pearson tried to sign him(the one iv'e described above)and the one after(the one that wanted his mummy). If he could come back like the the former,i can see a bit part for him only,as has been said he won't fit into our 3-5-2. In a 4-4-2 he's a winger(or a whinger )
The only place for him on his return is in the training squad, revisiting the basics that he scoffs at with his wasteful show-boating (only his boat has a hole below the waterline). He has to play for the team and learn his place to be accepted by both players and management - end of Feb he will be as right as he is ever going to be and then we will all see if he has what it takes. Off the shoulder striker for me - if he needs it then coach him into it, it is exactly right for him if he has the ambition. I would love to see him make it, both him and for us, as he will be damn useful around March and, afterall. we own his contract!
Never a striker, hasnt got the finishing ability. After January he wont get near the Bench, Cash in if possible.
