Was just researching rules as to taking a camera into the ground. Seems it's fine as long as it doesn't an interchangeable lens, and is thus classed as "professional". For information, the following are prohibited at Wembley, most of them obvious, but anyone smuggling in an umbrella may be frog-marched out again (Steve McClaren please note): QUOTE The following articles must not be brought within the Ground: knives, fireworks, smoke canisters, air-horns, flares, weapons, dangerous or hazardous items, laser devices, bottles, glass vessels, cans, poles and any article that might be used as a weapon and/or compromise public safety. Any person in possession of such items will be refused entry to the Ground. Any article that might be used as a weapon, be deemed to be offensive or abusive, or compromise public safety, will be confiscated and or reported to the police. Unlicensed musical instruments: trumpets, drums and other devices capable of causing a disturbance or nuisance. Flag poles greater than 1m in length and flares. Bottles, glass vessels, cans, flasks. Frisbees and similar items, dangerous or hazardous items, illegal substances, explosives or ammunition; fireworks, knives, blades or other weapons, firearms, scooters, skateboards or other skates. Laser devices, smoke canisters, signs or items with corporate or inappropriate branding, unauthorised fliers, spray paint, large industrial style âpermanentâ marker pens, prams / push chairs, transmitting devices, professional cameras & recording devices (This applies to cameras that have interchangeable lenses), large suitcases, lap tops, illegal merchandise items, water bottles (need to have the ability to decant), illegal charity collection utensils, motor bike helmets, umbrellas, darts, hampers and cold boxes, air horns, alcohol and animals (except service dogs & guide dogs). Bummer, I was looking to take a vespa in with me. I usually take a camelback in with me and that's going to be great if its a scorcher of a day.
Was planning on small HD camcorder but will probably settle for phone although I was looking at a text on my phone when we scored our second goal on Monday!!
"Unlicensed musical instruments: trumpets, drums and other devices capable of causing a disturbance or nuisance." Can you get trumpet licenses then? I haven't got a trumpet license... But I do have a license for my pet fish, Eric. He's an halibut. I chose him out of thousands. I didn't like the others, they were all too flat.
You're fine with cameras. For our playoff final I took mine in in full view of the stewards and it's a pretty decent spec (eg below, hopefully). They are only bothered about people with professional cameras that should be paying for press accreditation for the day as they could sell the pics. If you're wanting to take a camcorder then assuming it's a compact version I'd recommend having a rucksack with you. Providing it's nice weather, chuck your coat in, put the camcorder in, put your jumper in, and get to the turnstiles quite early and you should be ok. (if there's a queue they will check your bag, because they can do it while you're waiting anyway, and it breaks up the time you're waiting so you and the people around you don't get as impatient)
