Straight from kick off, Gary Roberts attempted to lob the Cambridge goalie from the half way line. What a start that would have been, if it had gone in !!
Cambridge Utd take a 1-0 lead, after the linesman puts his flag up for offside, Pompey's defenders stop, but Cambridge striker Robbie Simpson runs on to score Goal given.
1-0 at half time to Cambridge. Interesting statistics inasmuch as they have had one shot from which they scored - we have had SEVEN shots, with FOUR on target. Players still worked up after the early offside (?) Cambridge goal. Fracas between Barry Corr and our asst. manager Leam Richardson, ended up with Corr shoving over our keeper.
Hot off the Press: Apparently, the ref sent off Cambridge centre half Mark Roberts for his part in the half time 'fracas'. Leam Richardson has been sent to the stands. The commentators on Express FM thought it was Barry Corr who was involved. Cambridge down to ten men, and they have replaced their goalscorer Robbie Simpson with George Taft.
Pompey sub - Adam Webster on for Matt Clarke. Centre half Christian Burgess pushed up front to play in attack alongside Matty Tubbs. Let us hope it comes off.
Equaliser immediately !! Own goal from Cambridge defender Leon Legge under pressure from Gareth Evans.
Blimey !! Matt Tubbs has scored his tenth goal in nine matches against Cambridge. It's 2-1 to Pompey.
Ben Davies booked for tugging on a Cambridge players shirt. Matty Tubbs clean through, and brought down by a Cambridge defender, who isn't even booked or spoken to by a very poor referee.
3-1 to Pompey now. Goal to Matty Tubbs (who else). BBC Sports are saying that Tubbsy has scored a hat trick. Nigel Atangana on for Adam Barton.
Someone should tell him we play Cambridge every week. Fracas is one of my favourite words. Perhaps it got the players up for the second half, Roberts should have kicked himself. Cambridge could have played William Taft for all the good the other Taft did.
Can't wait for the next away game. Did say at the beginning that it is a team's away form that clinches promotion. At this rate, Pompey could get 15/16 away wins and only about 11 or 12 home wins, which would surely be enough for automatic promotion.
