On OS, England u17s won Algarve tournament with a goal from Calum Chambers in a draw against Holland and in the win over France. Mugabi was on stand-by and Shaw missed out injured. Nice to see our academy being recognised.

Mugabi is a desperately unfortunate name. As you say though, great credit (again) to our academy.....

Especially when you consider that his first name is Bevis

Bevis is a far more fortunate name than Mugabi!

When he scores, he needs to pull his T-shirt over his head and shout "I am Cornholio", possibly showing a vest with the message "Give me your TP" <laugh>

What are you talking about? He's 15, he can't be on a pro deal

He'll be on a different kind of contract for under 18s. It's basically a pro deal but, it isn't.

Pre-Contract deal that automatically comes into effect when he is 17, the club worded it as a pro deal so I shall do likewise

Are these actually legally enforceable? If so, what's the point of having the 'have to be 17 to sign a contract' rule?

My impression is that they are agreements on what form the contract would take but they still have to sign when they are 17 to make it binding. Would be interested to know if anyone knows any better.

I don't understand the ins and outs of it and how they work I just know of it, but some youth players below 17 are on pro deals, or pre-contract agreements

I'm pretty sure that no-one under 17 is allowed to sign a professional contract by the FA. Before that they're all pre-contract agreements.

I'm just curious about the nature, and enforceability, of these agreements really. Maybe I'll look on the FA website or something!
