So,after all that we never got the striker we needed. A mocked up bid for Ruiz and a bid for a championship defender that in the words of Mackem legend and Skysports reporter David Craig we "couldn't get over the line".

Looking back over the window as a whole though I think we can be relativly happy. Especially when you look at what our "rivals" have done and the start we have made. When I say rivals I include everyone in this except City,Utd,Liverpool,Chelsea and Arsenal maybe just sneek in there. Spurs have had a mass clear out making IMO there squad back to where it should be, on par with ours. Everton are a mess. Stoke signed Crouch and Jerome, would you have been happy with that??? 5 pl goals between them last season, Christ, Tayls nearly got that on his own from centre back and he only played 5 games. QPR, fair enough they got Barton from us but everyone they signed is old and injury prone.Bendtner on loan <laugh>.The list goes on.

Us on the other hand,1 fullback with international pedigree,2 very quick wingers, a striker that when he finds his confidence has shown he can cut it at this level(more goals in half a season with the worst team in the league than both Crouch and Jerome got last year). In Cabaye we got a classy midfielder that will compliment the ever marvellous Tiote and in Abeid a player oosing with potential. At the back we do look a bit short and we really needed cover there.

On a whole it could of been much better (a striker and no lies from Ashley again) and it could of been worse (more players sold and money wasted like our rivals) but in the end we have a stronger first eleven than most rivals and we always have super Leon Best <laugh>

Time to get behind the guys and you never know,we might gets this elusive striker in January

Well said! Not too happy with yesterday's dealings but overall it's been a good transfer window.

Agree on most points except for "Spurs have had a mass clear out making IMO there squad back to where it should be, on par with ours". They are still well ahead of us in terms of their squad.

I always feel the last couple of days in the window are panic buys, and apart from a striker our other dealings have been ok. One the we should have gone for Drenthe(left back), who has gone to Everton, he was class but like a lot of players went to Real Madrid and did nothing.
Thank God we didn't get Crouch or Bendtner, or worse Carlton Cole.
