At least wait and see till the end of the season. Even if we dont make cl im confident we will do well next season even if rvp leaves. With all the gloom threads being posted about it really puts in perspective how.spoilt we have been over the past years. I know many will maintain we deserve to be treated to trophies etc but other clubs having spent more than us have endured far worst seasons while others havent won a trophy or smelt success in eons. If its any consolation missing out on cl may provoke the board to splurge a bit (assuming it makes you happy). Ill get slated for this but id rather we spent within our means and traditiona rather than win trophies at the expense of flaunting money about and playing hoofball.....errr...i think ill stop now!
Sorry Cb but pretending the fans are spolit because we want to win trophies is a non starter. We are one of the richest clubs in the world and are hoarding cash whilst the team degenerates right in front of our eyes. I cannot see where your confidence comes from about next year. Once you miss out on CL football its not easy to get back. No one is scared of playing Arsenal anymore - in fact if anything they relish it because we are so bad at defending. Despite what some say we are performing well below our level - we're struggling to compete with Newcastle and Spurs. After nearly 8 years of not winning the title, what exactly have we been spoilt by? Our recent history is poor.
Well said1 the likleyhood is that Newcastle will get beat tomorrow and you will just have to win your last game for 4th minimum.
and its not just not winning anything. We just fall apart when we have to win - gutless. The man talked mental strength until I could scream. That is the last thing we showed in the last 3 years. No character no bottle no winners....... complacent just like the boss.

No, it was the next big step for us to become a constant dominant English-European team, to build on our success at Highbury. I have no problem if we couldn't win because the teams above us were much better. I'd have no problem if we couldn't win because we don't spend millions on players like other teams. I'd have no problem if Arsenal played consistently well and still fell short of winning a title/trophy. What I do have a problem with is with Arsenal capitualting under pressure, showing no heart in games where it really matters and stupid school boy errors. Like I said, Man Utd are close to winning the title with their weakest team this season. Chelsea, despite a poor poor start, have won the FA Cup and are in the finals of the CL. Yes, we can say both of these teams have spent loads, especially the latter, but there is one thing they both have that we don't and that's a winning mentality. Is it spoilt to expect our team to dig in and actually act like they care whether they win or not? Because too many times this season, they have thrown in the towel before the final whistle. In fact, make it too many times over many seasons. Stop saying we're whining, spoilt or acting childish when we provide constructive criticism.
No one said it was easy, but we're not even close to challenging. Even when we did get close over the last fw years, by the time the last day came round we had bottled it so badly we were well back. Lets be clear here, at our level we're not even talking titles any more - just an odd cup win would be nice and top 4. We cant even do that now we have regressed so badly under this clueless manager

Would you concede that if we qualify for the Champions League, then it will have been worth while ? I think we all see that we've got problems that need addressing, but getting angry about it solves no more than someone calmly pointing that out. It's not that anyone cares any more or less. We all want the same thing for our club, success.
I am beginning to question whether you actually do want success for Arsenal, Piskie. I can see you want us to get 4th, but that is not success. I get the feeling you would be happy just to be 4th every year.
I think the argument that some fans are blinkered is a misjudgement of understanding. We all have opinions on what's best for our club, we just don't share them.
Having read just how spoilt most of you lot are I am starting to hope you actually get into a real mess like our lot did. It's good once the crowd gets humbled because you realise how bad things can actually get. It's a bit like the olf saying there is is always somebody worse off so be thankful for what you have.
Yes I agree that we all have opinions - and its the blinkered opinions of fans who support Wenger to the hilt that allows him to get away with being piss poor.
Look mate the fact is your not going to compete with Man United, City or Chelsea financially so 3rd is good. Look at the bigger picture ffs.
Would what have been worth while? The dreadful results we've had to endure this season? NO. Not at all, I am not going to be happy at all if we end 4th or 3rd, just relieved, but not happy at all, but an angry relief. I want us to be challenging and winning trophies, that's why we moved into the Emirates, it wasn't to get 4th, it was to build on our success from Highbury. I made myself very clear after we lost to Milan and Sunderland, that this season from my perspective was a complete failure regardless of getting 4th or not, as in my book, simply getting 4th is not a massive success in my eyes, and it never will be, it only shows how far we have regressed as a team. From competing and winning trophies (going unbeaten, wining FA cup back to back) to scrapping for 4th, in our new 60,000 seater, while we are ranked as the 4th richest club on earth, how in the hell can that be worthwhile or considered successful? We need to reclaim our rightful place at the top, and start getting those trophies back, that is our rightful position, that is where we belong, and we have the resources for that, our resources is not that of a team fighting for 4th, but that of a team fighting for trophies and major success.
Some do and should have the foresight to intervene before things get really bad. Why let a ship sink when you can plug the holes now? An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
