I thought I'd post on the lad - I admit that I've not been his biggest fan before now, but the lad seems to have really stepped up to the mark lately. I watched him vs QPR and was really impressed (and surprised) - he was very lively and a handful. Looked good in the clips I saw from the Blackburn game too. I'd be interested in your opinions, but I like what I'm seeing of him so far this season.
I have seen 9 City games this season, and the 2 games you mention are the only times he's played remotely well in, and v QPR it was only really the second half he played well. I hope this gives him the confidence now to put in a good run of form, with Pato and Weimann injured, the attacking midfielder position is pretty much his for a while now.
That explains it then - I only saw the second half of the QPR game and I have only watched 'snippets' of the other games where he has started!
I find him wholly frustrating, he puts in a lot of effort, that is undeniable but I have never seen a player choose the wrong option so often. His passing is poor, his dead ball delivery is poor, he could easily have had a hatrick on Wednesday at least 2 attempts could not be classed as shots more like a feathered back passes and ok the one he blazed over in the first half he lost his footing but shows a lack of composure for what was the best opening of the game. He made some great runs throughout the game but almost always ending in trying to beat one too many or delivering a poor pass. However his header ultimately made the winner, he did really well to get to it. My assessment is frustrating, there is definitely a better player in there somewhere.
I suppose the reality is if he had a more consistent end product, he would be playing for Leeds in the prem.
I agree, but also find Semenyo frustrating in front of goal as well.....really needs a couple of goals to up his confidence IMO
The difference is with Semenyo and Martin the end product is their high assist stat, ODowda has zero in that column and goals scored column. But I agree in essence he needs to start converting chances.
Two or three years ago I went to Villa Park with a Villa season ticket holder and a Forest fan. Think we lost 2-0 from memory. COD played and my mates were raving about him! I was surprised. Can’t say I have ever been that impressed and largely agree with many of the comments above but, he plays regularly for us and is consistently in the Irish squad so people that matter must be impressed. Hopefully he will get better than I think he is, and as good as others believe.
fans tend to base judgements on "what they see around the ball and players around it /with it and pretty much in front of them" in front of them I mean what the camera /editor shows them. As a spectator you get from most points of view [ whether N E S W facing ] a large expanse of "view" of the game [ up to 160 degree of peripheral vision ] … best place is probably either side of the half way line … off the tv you are all seeing the same what the camera shows .. being live what the editor shows, usually an instant reactional interpretation … so …. "]Can’t say I have ever been that impressed and largely agree with many of the comments above but, he plays regularly for us and is consistently in the Irish squad so people that matter must be impressed. … That's why we are fans and pay to watch … and they get paid to /and watch
sometimes you are extremely difficult to interpret .. a yes or no to what??? .. it is a statement confirming that better intellectuals than us fans know better!
You’re spending rather a lot of time on our boards lately Sparkey - are you thinking of converting your allegiance to the bright side of the Severn? I think there’s a ritual where you stand next to the plinth of the Attyeo statue with one hand on your heart and a cider in the other, whilst Wiz reads a statement which asks you to solemnly swear to renounce Cardiff and pledge allegiance to BS3. Once you take the oath you will be welcomed to join the sub- committees - Redprintt represents one of them and Onefor the other - just like a political party really....
Are spectators not fans? Or are you basing it on, that you only follow bbc sports page rather than watch the game because you like the stats updates
gosh you do amaze at times ROD ... when I as a fan or supporter go to the game [ not many in last 3 years just 10/12 …. wifes illness my illness / hospital and covid ] I am a spectator. All fans /supporters at a game are spectating , and so are spectators, they are not "fanning! So far this season, again due to health [ not mine ] and covid restrictions issues / shielding have watched only 4 games and missed 2 completely, and followed 3 on BBC not for complete 90 -115 mins … [ home games]. I would say that THIS SEASON all fans (supporters) have been spectators that have had to assess the game from the streaming … a dictated view, coutesy of the final VT editor. Then latterly replays slo mo's etc ...
