He will go into the team or certainly first team squad. I am looking forward to this season with excitement and thinking we could actually do something. Quality striker and matthews from Sunderland we are ready to rumble.
Yes, but he's got time on his side and I'm sure you can find plenty of examples of other players who have bridged that gap.
Midfield is full,we need a quality striker if we are to seriously compete at the top end of the division
People said the exact same thing when I said we should sign Lambert from the sags to pair with Maynard. Laughed at I was, laughed at! Because he was deemed small time and nowhere near Championship material. Look what he ended up achieving and where we could have gone if we hadn't mucked about with the Dele Adebolas, Byfields, Aubamyangs, Styvaars etc I'm still sore about being laughed off the thread you can tell can't you
Some people can't see past the blue and white quarters, and some are just mistaken. The most depressing words I ever say to the missus is 'I told you so' It brings no comfort whatsoever.
I never laughed cos I was as mad about it as you at the time. Phaffed around for a whole month whilst we speculated on what quality Rolls Royce striker(s) we would get in to take us up and on the final day(?), we ended up with a Mondeo called Dele. I have respect for Dele because he aways did his bit for us and never let us down but meanwhile, Stoke speculated and paid a big wedge to borrow Shola Ameobi and have never looked back since. We missed automatic promotion by 1 point that season, a bit more balls and who knows what might have been...
Agree with all of this. It was there for the taking and we blew it in spectacular fashion by doing the opposite of what common sense we should do to get us over the finishing line. When we went to Southampton around March time we were top of the league and they were bottom 3 and fighting relegation to L1. We never got out of the blocks at St Marys and eventually lost 2-0. I said to my youngest Son at the time 'We've blown it' and sure enough we did.
I remember that saga well, I said at the time I thought GJ bottled it, we were linked with RL and Scott Sinclair at the same thime as I recall, and there was uproar from many City fans due to their Rovers connection..
Agree. None of it was his fault and he gave 100%, but RL might have taken us all the way. Ah - 'if' - the biggest word in the English language!!!!
R&W I find your ' the most depressing words' comment incredibly ironic. FFS you and Prem ought to look in the mirror.
I'm afraid that this comment is lost on me. It's clearly supposed to be some sort of a swipe but I can't see any irony or relevance to an imaginary link to Prem. Never mind - moving on.....,,,
