Just listening to Talk Sport and Hawksby and Jacobs and their itk guy said Callum McManaman was on the move to maybe WBA?

Why aren't we chasing him? He's a young hungry England under 21 international and at 23 perfectly placed to make the move to the EPL. He is a pacy goal scoring midfielder that we so badly lack currently and surely will be priced competively. I'd sooner see him in the midfield than Rodwell or Gomez. He can play wide, through the middle or up front.

Its a no brained for me. Thoughts?

He's more of a wide man for me so depends if Gus will stick to our present formation where we don't have a need for a player like that, or he mixes it up a bit and shows some adaptability, in which case I think he'd be a good signing. In this system I don't see the need for him though.

    Our scouting is a joke.

Even di Fanti was on SSN last night tellying us he did well, countering PDCs lates claims.

Di Fantis appointment should have heralded an new era for us as a club with his contacts in the game and standing. That we failed miserably yet again to capitalise upon it is just simply another tale of failure in the pathetic post war history of our beloved club.

I mentioned that lad months back in the summer and again since, he'd be a good players for you lot. Has experience of playing in this division and would do much better with better players around him. Gets to the byline a lot and has decent service, and as you say Cest, he knows where the net is.

I just don't see any negatives Terry, unless they want £10m+ for him or something? Right age, English so no settling in needed and knows this division. I think he can get better too so great investment as well.

My only critique of him would be that he doesn't work hard enough when they're behind, and they're behind a lot this season, maybe that's why they've deemed him surplus to their objectives. He'd do better with better players around him. I think the money's supposed to be around £6m which could end up a sound investment.

I guess if you're stuck in a mediocre team and want to be better you lose some of your desire and focus. It happens in our jobs so football will be no different. At £6m I'd be interested as he will be worth much more if he captures some of his previous form. I'll be fairly disappointed if we don't even challenge WBA for his services. We could even use Graham as part of the deal.

It seems WBA are fairly close to the deal by the looks of it. I'd be worried as a Wigan fan, this looks like they're starting to prepare for life in League One.

We can hire the best and they will all fail, we now question Congertons input, do we not? It is all right been seen around town tipping waiters with a wad but them waiters don't turn up week after week to support the club like you lads do, half of them probably support Chelsea or others. The problem for me and it has been for a good while now is our owner. We have been crying out for proper investment now in the team for ages and here we are with the same old faces, you know the ones I mean and get used to it, they will see their contracts down.

4th bottom after the great escape and overpriced hp players in the summer, none of which were addressed to the obvious failings we could all see as fans in the team. We will be fighting the brown stuff again simply because of a owner with a better personality and tipper to the local community than Murray, a DOF, hired to do his best with a load of IOU's and loan apps in his pocket and a manager that thinks he's building a Lego City model back to front without the instructions..

Just my opinion lads, pretty **** but just my opinion..

The fans will roar when these guys get it right..<ok>

Your back as well, good stuff <ok>. Someone mentioned on here that you had gone diving off Shetland for a Russian oil company, was it good?

All this negative stuff about the scouting - who knows what our scouts are actually doing? We knew nothing of Defoe until he arrived in Sunderland - we don't publicly do our business and I am glad about that - as Redknapp said, they were too late in the day for Defoe - so keeping it under wraps is exactly what we need to do. McManaman is OK from what I saw of him last season but this season his team are struggling against relegation from the championship? How good is he really?

I think we're pretty much maxed out financially this season.

Only deal we'll do is a loan if we can offload Cabral, Mavrias Graham off the wage bill

I was told I was wrong when I said that most of our activity in the transger market went under raps. Instead I was told that the majority of our targets go to our rivals as they get a run on them.

He's looked very good every time I've seen him but he's the kind of player who may only be noticed when he's playing good and invisible for the rest of the time.

As regards Newcastle fans. It was a horrific challenge but what riled people was that he didn't seem to have any concept he may have done anything wrong, which was then backed up by his manager, the club owner and the FA! I may be wrong but usually those sort of challenges get punished. Seem to recall it wasn't even a booking but there couldn't be any FA sanctions as the referee had seen it.

There are limits to how much of that was his fault though and as a young English player I hope he does well.

Never understood this. Have you been right about every single signing in the history of ever? If so, why aen't you earning exceptional money as a talent spotter for a top club? Why is being wrong in a prediction something that gets dredged up for weeks, months, years etc?
