Just decide to have my breakfast coffee in my Bristol City mug (no expense spared) and then head to the computer to see who we had signed today. The mug (not me) nearly went through the window when yet again I found that we are still where we were oinks ago. Surely but surely if we end up this week without any news on the new player front then perhaps we should all start to get concerned. I know this kind of scenario is commonplace down at AG but when we are approaching what can be called the most important season for decades I am somewhat miffed by what seems to be a block on transfer news or indeed any news. Bristol City won't be diving in the pool for the next disillusioned 10 million player because that's not a level at which we wish to compete for bodies, but we must have targets in mind and they have presumably been available for discussions for quite some time, so why are we so quiet? Obviously we don't want to bring in some moaner or attitude affected sort but aren't we fast approaching the time when nearly all the good possibilities have been scooped up by our competitors or gone off to further their impotent career in the Syrian Super League or some other such non-entity? You are out there somewhere Bristol City so could you please show the paying public that you are still alive and that the heart of the club is ticking. It's called public relations for a reason you know.
Heres one for you Mike, perhaps the dominoes may start to fall now.. http://www.derryjournal.com/sport/f...ign-patrick-mcclean-from-derry-city-1-6850997
Give them a break Mike they are on holiday in Portugal. I'm sure they will get round to signings in a week or three
Thanks banksy. I love the editorial language used here, especially the combination of swooping, 200K and a virtually unknown player seems to be a bit of poetic licence. Talking in these kind of figures doesn't appear to fit in with our supposed rise to a better future and maybe he will become part of our going forward. It does irk me that the relegated returnees to the Championship, who spent what can only be called a fortune to get to the promised land, get rewarded by the shed load poured all over them. They then use that ill-gotten money to buy up anything and everything that moves to hopefully help them back up the ladder while ruining the potential of other teams to bring in new players without mortgaging their mothers. Bah humbug I hate what football has become Bah humbug.
We need quality not quantity.. much harder to get in.. (yes we do need a few bodies I agree but theres no need to panic... yet!)
I reckon once we get on in (a proper signing, not one for the u21) it will set the ball rolling and loads will start coming through the door. Lee Camp, Tom Lees, Alan Judge, Harris Vuckic all to come in by August.
Portugal schmortugal my backside. I'll get back on board when the Jan transfer window opens. See what happens when you are stinking rich ROD you tend to forget the value of money - oops.
Cotts appears to be playing a waiting game, waiting for prem clubs to announce their playing squads with players not in this seasons plans available for loans, it's a gamble! Hope it works out
Surely a marquee signing would have given the whole club a shot in the arm, prior to the new season. Methinks someone has f__ked up
The fact that no one from the club has come out to calm the fans about the lack of transfer activity makes it seem like the club are quite happy to promote a few youngsters to sit on the bench, and to run with a small squad again. I think it's a crazy thing to do at this level, but I'm mostly interested in where this idea is coming from. If it's Cotterill, it's all on his head. If we can't compete with a small squad and we're in the relegation places come Christmas he should be worried for his job. If the board are restricting the squad for financial reasons I'd be even more worried. Relying on the loan market for more than two or three players is insane, so I seriously doubt we're doing that. With that being said, a lot of Championship clubs have had luck taking some of the Premier League starlets and giving them game time.
I'm not sure why you think the club should come out and say something just to calm the fans. Its always been a case of keeping quiet on transfers until they are completed. I much rather they concentrate on completing signings instead of coming out evey 5 minutes just to calm some nervous nelly's
I think the club has said that it's playing a waiting game I agree that you do not want to say who targets are as it alerts other clubs
Worst case scenario - our starting XI for Sheff Weds is: Fielding Ayling - Flint - Williams Little (or Wagstaff) - Smith - Pack - Bryan - Cunningham Freeman Wilbraham
