Teen who called 999 thinking he'd fallen off a cliff hadn't fallen off a cliff


The 19-year-old told emergency services he was clinging to a tree after falling while relieving himself following a boozy night out.

About 20 police officers, fire crews and the coastguard searched Bournemouth seafront to no avail.

The caller, of Littlehampton, West Sussex, could only say he was stuck near a large drop surrounded by bushes.

He was finally found on a steep slope next to a car park just before 5am on Sunday.

Asked if the teenager was embarrassed, a coastguard official said: ‘We hope so.’
