Impressive from Cairney and Marshall. http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/8968244/two-footed-corner-challenge-blackburn?
he's always had the talent, but does he have the vindication and effort to succeed? i don't think we will sell him to blackburn atleast not on the cheap (and yes, i realize the corner challenge doesn't mean he has the talent) he's only 22.. i always remember seeing him in the prem a few years ago and thinking.. he has the makings of a top top player but then he suddenly faded.. maybe it's our club but i honestly believe he has the potential to be one of the best in the premier league alteast
I'd sell him whilst there's interest, we regretted not doing that last time. He's never shown enough to make him worth keeping, if he's doing well in the Championship then good for him, but we don't need him back. He'd be the perfect player for a player plus cash deal for Rhodes.
There was a lot of interest the season we went down, he scored that screamer against Everton and put in a few good performances. I don't know if any offers were ever made or how much truth were in the reports, but if there was ever a time to sell him, with the benefit of hindsight that would have been it.
I have commented on here before that he hasn't got a right foot.I was shocked to see this and was ready to comment again before I saw the second part of the clip.It still remains that he hasn't struck a ball like that with his right in a City shirt.
It is clear to me,that some people on here, feel it is more important that they're proved correct in what they said on a forum , than have a young player prove them wrong, and help their club. Sad but true
Completely agree. He's now surplus to our needs and Bruce realizes it. Perfect time to sell him or use him in a trade while Blackburn are keen on him and we need a striker. As for this "challenge" proving anything, I have a son who at 13 could do that consistently when playing in our mens leagues. Bending corners in is no indication that a player has "two-footed" ability at the pro level. Cairney is one of the most one-sided players I've ever seen. That, and his lack of pace and inability to provide defensive coverage, was a principal reason he was riding our bench. More power to him if he makes it with Blackburn. He's clearly got a lot of technical ability.
Would be nice if we could include Cairney in a Rhodes transfer but judging by his 9 goals in 7 games this season we might not be able to work that. Blackburn apparently want far more than the 8 mill they paid for him. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/jordan-rhodes-premier-league-clubs-2344097
All this build up is what SB wants to here & see, he's probably going to do what Sun'lan did to us with Meyler where we were forced to buy him. I don't think Cairney is going to play for us again & I don't see him becoming a top footballer that we regret selling either. If he was that good surely he'd have done more before his loan at Blackburn, he has always come across as one of those players who is just strolling along, then when he needs to do it for a new contract he pulls his finger out. Hopefully if we sell him in January we get a good price for him.

X what a load of drivel and tosh! One footed players... They're everywhere, at the highest level and not, people think this is an issue because he's left footed but no one gives a **** about right footed players... Pace... How many central midfielders have pace? Think Huddlestone, Gerrard, Lampard, Pirlo... Just for starters... Cairney's faster than any of them, they all manage alright... And defensively, from Canada you may be excused, but you haven't watched the games in tiger players for the past 2 years? He's been getting stuck in, not shying away from challenges and actually winning them... He backed out of hard challenges when he first broke on to the scene, he was 18 then and not even close to a developed game. Pearson and Barmby clearly worked on developing that part of his game... Cairney's a good player, I can't for the life of me see why so many seem so desperate to see him fail. Specially now he's finally finding his feet and playing to his ability at Blackburn, and people want us to sell him on the cheap Why don't we take that same logic and offer Brady and Aluko for £1m a piece?
