Its not really been mentioned but I was disappointed with his performance last night. The lad is obviously gifted however too many times last night he lost possession and backed out of challenges.

Needs to prove himself under pressure. Because from last nights performance I think Evans would be a much better partnership with McKenna.

i thought he played much better than mckenna, he needs someone next to him to work hard, if hes playing then evans has to really, mckenna didnt seem round the ball much, cairneys improve a hell of a lot in close quarters, skipping a man and playing through balls. he just needs someone to do the dirty work, mckenna didnt do any of it.

Not sure he lost the ball that much. He is obviously a talent but needs to dominate a game a little more

You are joking right? Cairney played really well last night, looked tidy on the ball and actually got a bit stuck in for a change. We saw a much improved Tom Cairney last night. Evans comes nowhere close to him.

Gotta be a WUM. He never lost the ball once or backed out of any challenges.

Drifts in and out of games too much for me at the moment. Would still sooner see him and either Mckenna/Evans in the middle though as apposed to those two together.

So by that you don't rate Koren and never rated Geovanni or Mendy.

All three of the ones you've mentioned their are/were frustrating players to watch. I think that Korens head isn't in it and we should cash in while we still have time to get a replacement in. And as for Cairney you've got to bear in mind he is still a young lad at the start of his carear as apposed to three you've mentioned so hopefully as he gets more games under his belt it'll sort its self out! I'm not saying I don't rate him, far from it, hes the best thing thats come out of our youth sceme since Mike Edwards ;)

must admit, ive given some criticism to cairney in the past for not trying..but last night thought i noticed a considerable improvement in his effort, might not have won a lot of his tussles and battles, and is still maybe a bit "soft" but he at least tried to get stuck in i thought..

He played well against a pact blackpool midfield, he got stuck in plenty and was composed as ever on the ball. I honestly don't know what game people watch sometimes, no doubt it's the same folk that thought ash was crap!

Look guys. Just an opinion. Thought he was a bit weak in more than a few moments. Better than last season but think he is a player who is more comfortable with more time on the ball.

Never ever thought Ash was crap. McKenna has some big boots to fill there but in all honesty I think it will be a good few years before a player of Ash's calibre graces the pitch again.

Defo not a WUM. Been following City for a lot of years and supported them through thick and thin.

The worst performance last night for me was the supporters at the end. Those booing the first game of the season need to get a reality check.

Up the tigers and I'm looking forward to the next home game!

Everyones saying cairney was soft last night but if i'm not mistaken (i could well be some blackpool fans were pissing me off at the time) cairney made a tackle wich was slightly late but fully commited, for me cairney was one of the better players last night and needed a better partner than mckenna who for me was woeful but cairney was skipping people picking out good passes and was running the midfield for city

What is all this crap about Cairney and the midfield, Our Defence and Midfield played well last night. You should be getting on the backs of our so called strikers. If I was NP I would of had the bloody lot of them in today for shooting practice. It was pathetic and everyone of them should be hanging their collective heads in shame.

Cairney was decent last night. I don't see the need for this thread, our only real issues last night were our strikers inability to finish and a flappy keeper.

People need to get it out of their heads that every player needs to kick **** out of people. Cairney had a decent game last night and I hope to see more of the same.

definitely, created plenty enough, blackpool are a possession side and we had 60% after the first twenty minutes.
