The next meeting is in the Charlton Conservative Club at 7:30 tomorrow night. Their objectives are ...... What are peoples views on this? AllHell
"Key questions of sustainability". What are these? "New models of ownership" What does this mean? Whoever our mysterious owners are the fact is they saved us from administration when no-one else wanted to know, and took over the debts from the Murray regime which was headed for the rocks. I wonder whether anyone at the meeting has any idea who our owners are and what is the true state of our finances? If so the meeting could be quite interesting.
In all honesty I have no opinion on the Trust but if you join now you will have a say in who the leadership are, if you do not like who is appointed then you can leave.... if you do not join in and have your say now then (and the wrong people are appointed) you will obviously never be willing to join. . . . . . . . . having said that...... I will not be there Keyboard soldier...............who..........where?????
I have no interest in joining. More to the point i can't attend any way. So in short i really forfeit any right to an opinion.
I notice that 'SE9Addick' on CL is involved, he was the old 606 'ElthamAddick' who I had a lot of time for... so there is at least one member of the interim team who I trust
i think its a waste of time. like work meetings really... you'd get more done if you didnt go to them, and then you wouldnt have meetings about why the work wasnt done. if someone wants to buy the club then so be it. i'm sure in this day and age there'll always be a "fit and proper" persons test before they're allowed to buy in. the people setting up the trust would be better served spending their time drumming up new supporters (increasing income) and in return stabilising the club in the case we went skint
Having read the above agenda I have absolutely no idea what this trust is all about. I am sure that was the intention of those behind it. A sort of rebels without a clue. It seems like it is set up to let a few disgruntled ego freaks have their turn on the ride and are asking you to pay for it. This trust is nothing more than an attempt to get show time for one or two fans who want a bit of limelight, who want to do what? other than to play in the boardroom? Reading on CL it seems to have little support and everyone comes up with excuses for non attendance 'I live in south Africa' or 'my mom won't let me out that late when I have an accountantancy meeting in the morning' When we have a cause, you can can count me in, in the meantime these idiots can spend their money and time on whatever they want, but don't do it , in the name of the clubs supporters. We have a supporters club already. I give them another two months before they set up up the ' the people's front of SE7' or is it 'the popular front....'
The statement up untill the last paragraph is good. If it was genuinely an attempt at collating the ideas of the majority into an organisation that would be easily liased with by the club I am all for it. However the last paragraph makes me fear for the worst with regards to the trust. Having an organised group to represent fans views to the club is a good thing, but as long as they understand that: a) The club don't have to engage with them, are the "customers" but they dont have any rights to know the financiers, the state of the clubs finances, the direction the board intend to take the club, etc etc. b) This should not be an Us the supporters against them the Board. As a symbiotic organisation to the club we have the best chance of being respected and obtaining a Swansea like situation where the club and the trust work together towards obtaining the best results possible on and off the pitch Unfotunately I fear that judging by how some of the comments went on the boards with regards to this, the people involved for the most part view the current administration as the enemy and as such will not be engaged to the club because of their own negative attitude. And, ultimately why should they be treated with respect when as of yet I think their comments have undermined the club. As we can see a lot of the rumours about us circling administration have died down now the league has started, which many of us predicted, which negates the last paragraph of the statement somewhat, and takes away from the trust as being a fans representative when they hold on to this notion of us being in "dire trouble", when there is no evidence bar rumours
As it seems their purpose is to undermine the board and spread innuendo and rumour to satisfy some alter egos then I would hope most fans will not buy in and give it a wide berth. The others supporters clubs will carry on going, some are more active than others eg Bromley but their activities are positive and open, not controlled by one particular group.
No time to get down there but would have liked to hear what they really had to say. I fear it would turn into a chat about speculation and a bit of a trip down memory lane thou. If they are true to Their word then so be it but also wonder if it will be used to stroke certain egos.
Let's not assume it is a CL inspired pressure group, if the former 606 ElthamAddick is involved (in the management) then I am sure they will work for the best interests of the Club.
I agree with every word of this Typical. When there's a cause and the s**t's about to hit the fan I'm in. Until such time I have far more pressing engagements to attend to and far better ways to spend my time...!!
