    Any Ideas?

My money is on some dubious tasting club shop craft beer of some kind.

I think you may be right, Kish. Either that or an official club opus.

Whatever it is, I can't contain my excitement...

Does anyone know if there's going to be a DVD for the 2013/14 season?

Cheers, Captain B. I shall pick one up on Tuesday. Gluttons for punishment, eh?

SuperC - did you not see the advert flash up on the big screen? '1905. Coming soon.'

A quiver of excitement ran through the masses.

    Yeah, it was during half-time.

I don't drink, so I shall have to wait and see if it's a new pie containing 1905 calories. If so, I'm in.

If it is a craft beer I imagine we will have to shell out over £5 for the pleasure. On Friday night I was in a pub in Shoreditch where they charged £5.90 - it's getting ridiculous.

Sod that. I'm glad I gave it up. Too expensive, plus I was heading for an early grave. At least five nights a week I used to put away 10-12 pints and around 10 double vodkas with Red Bull. Not good for a diabetic. Work was suffering, kids didn't see me, and my missus was losing patience.

Now I just eat too much and smoke like a chimney.

Jesus, Ponders. I'd need 2 kebabs minimum after a session like that.

Yep, two was the minimum. I shudder when I think back to those bad days.

I do miss a beer sometimes, though, especially in the summer.

I was an alcoholic for a few years in the late '70s as my marriage fell apart. Only gave up drinking after the divorce because I found it was giving me migraines. I very occasionally have a beer (or two, max) these days but always regret it next day. Those migraines saved my life and maybe kept me out of jail. Saved my finances too, but I later managed to f*ck those up while stone cold sober.

I used to live in a block of flats in Chiselhurst and my dentist lived in the flat above me, he used to work Saturday mornings till 1:00pm and by 4:00pm he was rat arsed on white wine and vodka and stayed that way until Sunday night. He retired early at 57 to live in Spain because of health reasons... 2 years later he returned as his liver was packing up.... by 60 he was dead!

    Fantastic move PEA <ok>

Cheers, AllHell. It's been over four years now and I still get those horrible urges, yet my work ethic has never been stronger and my family life is great.

Once the alcohol spending decreased, my income from work increased and allowed me to make some important lifestyle decisions - not least getting out of London!

Eddie - have ever thought about writing a biography?

The fun is being taken out of drinking in a pub due to costs. You don't find the same characters as you once did as they opt to stay in. I popped in to my local in forest hill last Thursday at 9 (PM, don't worry) for a quick one with a mate, and we were the only two there. That would never have been the case 10 years ago.

The smoking ban has killed pubs and clubs. The atmosphere became sterile and I'd end up sitting in the beer garden in the winter, but I suppose it was another nail in the coffin for my boozy heyday.

I liked the Blithe Spirit on Balham High Road; they had/have(?) a heated marquee in the beer garden, which had a better vibe than the actual pub.

The smoking ban hurt my health. Never smoked before it, but started getting fed up having to sit and watch everyone's coats whilst they were outside smoking. After several months I decided to give it a go after man beers, a week later I bought my first 10 pack and have continued since. That's another thing that is getting ridiculously expensive

I tend to mix roll-ups with ***s and can get through 40 per day, sometimes more, but as I travel a lot I'm able to bring back plenty on the cheap.

Currently puffing on a Belgian brand of tobacco, Royal Gold, which works out at £4 for 50g. Once a fortnight I will sit and roll for about fours hours straight.

I can't puff any other ***s than Benson Gold, though. £9 per pack over here.

Four hours? Incredible - how many will that make?

Maybe Charlton 1905 is a reasonably priced 20 pack.

I can roll about 400 in 4 hours, which will then last me a fortnight. It's quite a therapeutic exercise as it goes, especially if I have some music or a film on. Besides, I could never be one of those people who roll as they go.

    What do you puff?
