Possibly will never play for the club again, but Poyet won't push him away. What's his bet option, go out on loan? GUS POYET insists Sunderland outcast Cabral should not be sent into exile, just because the Black Cats have been unable to offload the midfielder. Cabral has not featured for Sunderlandâs first-team since August 2013, with the Black Catsâ efforts to move on the 26-year-old coming to nought during the summer after he spent the second half of last season on loan at Serie A outfit Genoa. The former FC Basle man, signed on a Bosman deal by ex-director of football Roberto De Fanti, attracted interest from the Russian league, but with no concrete move materialising, he has remained on Wearside and was an unused substitute for the injury-hit Black Cats in the 8-0 humiliation at Southampton. Sunderland boss Poyet has made it clear that Cabral is not in his plans after he wasnât even given a shirt number at the start of the season, and the club will again attempt to offload him in the January window. But with Cabral under contract at the Stadium of Light until the summer of 2016, Poyet says it would be wrong to leave him training with the kids, while his attitude remains positive. Poyet told the Echo: âItâs clear that Cabral had a few options, but at the end they couldnât finalise. âIt looked like he was going to go somewhere, but heâs under contract. âI always say that when these situations arise, I donât think itâs right to make someone responsible. âWe signed the player for a reason. âThen it doesnât work under the new manager, but youâre not going to put a gun to his head and say âleave the football clubâ. âIâm not that type of person. âHeâs a great lad and a great professional. âIâm making the decision that heâs not playing. Itâs not his fault, itâs me. âCan he go in January? I donât know. âI thought he would have been one of the easiest ones to deal with in the summer.â Poyet has shown in the past that he is willing to ostracise out-of-favour players if they begin to sulk after Andrea Dossena was released early from his contract before the end of last season. But Cabral has remained upbeat, with the Cape Verde Islands international even asking to play a part for Sunderland Under-21s. âIf he trains properly and is professional, heâs with us, because heâs a first-team player,â added Poyet. âNow, if thereâs anyone - and Iâm talking about anyone - that I think itâs better not to train with us, then he wonât. âBut at the moment, Cabral has been great. âHeâs been asking to play in the reserves, so why are you going to put him over there (training with the kids)? âBut that doesnât mean heâs going to play. http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...underland-outcast-cabral-says-poyet-1-6921907
I would give him a chance. my team for next Monday would be; --------------------------Pantilimon------------------------------- Aanolt--------Oshea--------------------Reveillere-----Vergini--- Johnson--------Rodwell-----------Gomez----------Mavrias------ --------------------Wickham----------Watmore------------------- Subs Mannone, Brown, Cattermole (for a defender !)Larsson, Buckley, Cabral, Altidor. Because of injuries, but the defence is a worry, we have 7 defenders but 13 midfielders !
You'd give Cabral a chance but he wouldn't make your bench? You'd play a 34 year old full back at centre half?
Personally dont think Catts/Larsson have been a problem this season, strange with me being one of Larssons biggest critics Rodwell however, for his price tag has failed so far to adjust to the speed of the league Id chance Cabral in with Catts/Larsson
Shoot him. Seriously, I remember him playing well against us in the Champions League, he was decent. I can only deduce from his demise that he's got into skag and spends his days in his slippers in his front garden shouting at people who walk past.
Was really strange as during pre-season he looked promising Was MOTM against Fulham on opening day Then was left out till MK Dons where the team were ****e for 80 minutes and he was slated...was never seen again
Must have been something 'off the pitch', maybe he got caught curling one out on Ellis Short's car bonnet.
He hasn't pulled his weight by the sound of it. He must have had his small taste of premier league football and decided it's not for him. He was hauled off by kevin ball at half time for the under 21s last season for not giving a ****. Bindippers just ran straight through him.
That's the scary part, hasn't been seen since a capital one cup game last year. A player with champions league experience is preferred to some championship players in a time of need kills me. Throw aside your favourites Gus, not only that the whole article makes no sense. If he is pleased with cabral his training but can't guarantee first team football then why is this a press matter? Get on with our 10 goals against mate
I do agree If you ask me if Cabral/Catts/Rodwell is given the chance With Cabral/Rodwell being box to box midfielders and Catts holding then you could have a very good pressing team Personally would give him his chance
For sure mate, if given the chance cabral will go forward, we were stuck in our own half too much against the gunners. It felt like players were scared of making mistakes so backtracking to Mannone instead of grabbing their ballsacks, having a go and moving forward. It's like some of them forget we're playing in the premier league..
Haha! Mate it's been hot as **** down here. Humidity's been a killer.. One day in the sun here for you poms & you's look beet root
I tan really well, actually, few minutes in the sun and I'm like a bronze sculpture, except I wouldn't sunbathe there I'd be edgy as ****, walking around like Lee Evans after a gram of speed.
Haha classic mate! You don't need to sunbathe here just cruise around for the day and your sweet.. Can relate to the bronze sculpture, my brothers used to call me abo back in the day
Did you go along with it? Go around with no clothes on playing the digeridoo. I remember learning about aborigines at school, they're just homeless people really.
Of course I did mate! They were just jealous I was getting the bitches in their grade Disagree with you their, their much, much more then that. People become disillusioned, they tend to think all aboriginals drink in the park and are on the dole.. From the little I have learnt here in Queensland they fought bloody hard for there land mate. In the 1800's up in the Carnavon ranges the aboriginals had the best land for grazing.& they had to fight off the Chinese and co who employed aboriginals from NSW (paying them in opium &!teaching em to ride horses) eventually they lost out as the were overpowered with guns, one thing I admired was there way of making fishnets outta bulrush cumbungi.. Indigofera Australis was a plant used and crushed to put into rivers and pools to stun fish. Aboriginal cave paintings are the most unique and very detailed to me, they've stood the test of time in the outback and until you physically visit one you'll truly understand the volume of work they put in.
I wasn't being serious mate, I know they're grafters. I've got respect for anybody who'll walk about barefoot with snakes and spiders... in fact no I haven't I have no respect at all for that behaviour, that's just irresponsible!
