Apparently we've signed Defensive midfielder Cabral from Basel on a free http://www.blick.ch/sport/fussball/superleague/fcb-cabral-wird-ein-black-cat-id2317843.html
"Ever since last season Cabral enjoys an excellent reputation in England. In the Champions League he was in the autumn of 2011, both in the legendary 3-3 at Old Trafford and a 2-1 victory in the second leg against Manchester United 90 minutes on the pitch. And the defensive midfielder impressed with strong performances. Now the man reaps the fruits with Cape Verdean roots and moves to Sunderland. "He has signed a four year contract," confirmed his advisor over Blick.ch. The FCB conceded no transfer fee for Cabral. His contract expires at the end of June. The "Black Cats" joined the current season on the 17th Rank and managed from the league in extremis. Coach of Sunderland is the Italian Paolo Di Canio
Sunderland have denied reports on one of Switzerland’s leading newspaper websites that Adilson Cabral has signed for the club. Sky Bet £10 Free Bet Blick claims the 24-year-old defensive midfielder has signed a four-year deal with Paolo Di Canio’s side. Cabral’s contract is up at the end of June and so Sunderland would not have to pay a fee. His representative told Blick “He has signed a four-year contract.” The Swiss under-21 international, who has Cape Verdean roots has made numerous Champions League appearances with Basel. A Sunderland spokesperson said: “We have not signed anyone.” http://tyneandwear.sky.com/sunderla...iss-newspaper-reports-club-has-signed-adilson
Wiki is bollocks mate, just looked at it and it said he played for us. I changed it back to Basel as he's still under contract until July http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adilson_Tavares_Varela Didn't see anything about Blackburn like.
His team mate Oli Zeisger has just wished him luck on twitter for his move to us, saying he's going to be a big miss and he's a true warrior.
I'm actually a little bit disgusted that you guys have no idea who he is, and that he's joing Sunderland for free and there hasn't been a single Tashgasm related death yet. He's an absolute class player. Tiote of 2 years ago, I'd rate him alongside. Very slick DM, not quite as meaty or niggly in the tackle as that Tiote, or as physical as he could be in general, but certainly a player I really like because he's comfortable in possession, has a good stature, and plays football the right way. Can't believe you b******s have got him, but at least he'll be gracing the premier league. I watched him play for Basel a couple of times a while back, thought he was a mint DM, looked him up on Football Manager 2012 and he was a bloody left winger... and with insulting stats too. Seriously lads, get him on your shirt as soon as he signs, he's a star in the making. To conclude, you lucky lucky lucky lucky lucky b******s.
thanks for the heads up. Yeah your right mate we've let ourselves down tonight with our lack of knowledge of the bloke. Swiss footballs not my strong point.
SUNDERLAND are believed to have clinched the signing of young Swiss midfielder Cabral, writes Graeme Anderson. Reports coming out Switzerland suggest the 24-year-old - who has been a key figure for leading Swiss Super League side Basel - has agreed a four-year contract with the Black Cats. Cabral, full name Adilson Tavares Varela, joined Basel from Lausanne in 2007 but has allowed his contract to run down and is now available on a Bosman free transfer. Should the deal be ratified, the defensive midfielder will become Sunderland’s second signing of the close season with Altricham’s teenage striker Duncan Whatmore agreeing a move to the Stadium of Light last week. Cabral was born in Cape Verde but has taken up an option to play his international football for Switzerland and has been capped at Swiss U18, U19, U20 and U21 levels.
