    Fair play to him.

Yohan Cabaye has apologised to Newcastle fans over the transfer saga which nearly saw him leave the club in the summer.

The Frenchman was left out of the team by boss Alan Pardew for the opening three games of the season because of uncertainty over his future.

Arsenal had a bid for him turned down and Cabaye instead remained with United, and Pardew has slowly reintegrated him back into the squad.

He was on the bench against Fulham in United's last home game, and started in the 2-1 win at Aston Villa on Saturday.

He was substituted two minutes from time at Villa Park and was given a standing ovation by the travelling fans, a reaction Cabaye admits moved him.

"It was very, very good to be back in the team; a really nice feeling," he told the club's official website.

"The most important thing for me is to be on the pitch and to play. I want to do my best for the club, for the team, for everyone and, of course, I want to win every game we play.

"The ovation was very nice to hear. If the fans were - or still are - mad at me for what happened then I understand and I apologise to them.

"I want to come back from what has happened. For Newcastle fans, football is their life and I want to say that I am going to give everything - as I have from my first day here - from today until the end of the season.

"In your career you do not have a career without bad moments. I have moved on and now in my head I just want to work really hard, to get back in the team every week and to help the team - that is the most important thing for me.

"I want to forget what happened during the summer, I want to put it behind me and give everything for Newcastle every day, for the club and for my team-mates."

Positive PR, and well thought out by all.

I'm starting to realise how much of a genius Alan Pardew really is.
Confident that the game was won at Villa, so he decides to substitute Cabaye with two minutes to go, knowing fine well that he would receive a standing ovation.

As expected the ovation duly happens, and shows Cabaye how much he is loved.

Pardew - more sublime man management.

He just needs to keep doing the right thing regarding team selection and tactics. Things are certainly looking a lot more hopeful.

As for Cabaye - he needed to say sorry but the only way he will be forgiven is if he puts the performances in and doesn't kick up a stink the next time someone is interested.

Think you're giving Pardew way too much credit there. Cabaye ALWAYS gets subbed out(think back to last season). He may not be the meanest of machines in terms of physical fitness, but it's not a surprise to see him being replaced, and likely will never be.

But of course, Pards gets credit for getting the gameplan right against Villa.

This makes zero difference, who the hell does he think he is refusing to play.
Snubbed the club once and IMO you don't get a second chance

If he stay's with us he'll, be playing. He's the kind of guy that can change a game in one flowing move.

Agent's are killing the game. How on earth did players manage without them in days gone by?

They weren't the smart well educated guys that today's players are, yet they got by comfortably without a Agent hanging around their necks.

Down with all agent's, they should be kicked out of the game.

It seems as though Cabaye has been disciplined after all.

Cabaye made a public apology for his behaviour earlier this week and Pardew subsequently revealed that he had been disciplined by the club, although he did not go into detail.

"He has also been disciplined for his actions this week and he accepted that in good faith, and therefore we move on now," Pardew said.

"As far as I'm concerned, especially on Saturday, it would be nice if our 51 000, 52 000 (supporters), whatever it is, give him the support he now deserves for at least apologising for that and taking the punishment that came with it.

"That's a signal to the players here and players elsewhere as well that until the contract is signed with another club, there is a responsibility to the club you are at.

"As I say, he has accepted that in good faith and he was brilliant last week. He's a fantastic player, not just for us, but for France, and I know he is going to have a great season."
