I wasnt going to have a bet in this comp but after my performance in the Players my mate said strike while the iron is hot and have another go... So with a bit of money burning away in the PadPow account ive had a look at this weeks offering...

Firstly this isnt one of the bigger tournaments played on the PGA tour, but this course was ranked 5th hardest last year. The reason being that the course is tight, the wind got up big time last year with 20-25 mph winds, so the course show its teeth and made it a real test. Only 5 players broke par last year and the weather report is for much the same...

So to my picks... First off i find it interesting that Mickelson and Harrington are playing here for the first time in over 5 years, especially Paddy as he missed the cut at the Players and he must think his game is good at the moment. Mickelson won this back in 1996 but has been absent since 2007 and i think its more to do with this being the 100th time this tournament has been held than him wanting desperately to win it. Anyway at the 11/1 favourite im not playing on him... Harrington is a 50/1 shot and if it clicks for him then he has a chance, but he is just too erratic now for me...

So driving accuracy is needed here to make the second shot easier to hit greens, sounds easy but there are some that cant do that. They can boom off the tee but arnt the greatest at getting down from under 80-90 yards in 2... Keegan Bradley did exactly that last year with his play-off win at the 4th hole with Ryan Palmer with a winning score of -3. But his confidence with the putter might stop him retaining this...

So im going with players that are high with driving accuracy, greens hit in regulation and showing a bit of form recently... As Hunter Mahon isnt playing this and Matt Kuchar won last week - I never think they will go on to win b2b tournaments so im giving him a rest this week - im going with 4 completely different players...

Usual suspects have a great chance Mickelson, Scott, Bradley even Day who won this in 2010 but im going with these lot...

Carl Petterson fits all three of them requirements. The only player to go sub 70 in the last 2 rounds last week at the Players, shooting 69, 69, to finish a very respectable T10...

Johnson Wagner has previous at this course last year finishing T12 but was very consistant for all 4 rounds which will be needed if the wind comes like they say it will. Currently ranks 56th in fairways hit, 18th in greens hit, 44th in putting he must have a good chance...

DA Points didnt play last weekend so will come into this tournament fresh and has previous in this tournament. A 3rd place finish in 2009, T6 in 2011 and T40th last year he will know his way around here. Ranked 35th in driving accuracy and 36th in greens hit im hoping that the break would have done him well to get high up the leaderboard...

Bob Estes is just a bit of a left field choice but i think he could get a top 5 finish if things go his way. Shot the best of the last round players last week, -7 at a time when the course was at its hardest, and im hoping that he will continue that form into here...

    Carl Petterson @ 28/1...
    Johnson Wagner @ 40/1...
    DA Points @ 50/1...
    Bob Estes @ 125/1...

All £2.50 e/w... Padpow paying top 5... Good luck if you do have a bet...<cheers>

I am spread gambler , sporting index lets you pick 4 players 25 pounds for a top 10 finish 50 pounds for winning , red ,you could buy those 4 players for just under at 20 , would require one of your players to make a top ten finish to make a profit !!!! My other bet at the moment I am making a profit on ,buying the favourite to do badly , 2 weeks ago woods £48 profit for missing the cut ,last week Mcilroy £46 profit for missing the cut

Red - thanks for your input, i am pleased to announce we have picked one the same this week! (happy for me, probably not so for yourself haha!)

    I have gone for

    Johnson Wagner
    Louis Oosthuizen
    Jhonatton Vegas

Was really impressed by Vegas last week and feel he may be coming into a bit of form. Louis is an auto pick (no Ogilvy this week :-( )
And Wagner was picked due to his course form being relatively strong.

Did you have a look @ the matchplays?

Went for Brandt Snedeker and John Senden

    Goodluck All!

Smokin - Cheers pal, lets hope for another good tournament and return...<cheers>

Harryhood - Im not a big gambler and to be honest i wasnt even going to bet on this tournament. But the whole spread betting thing scares me a bit, so i tend to keep my betting as simple as i can. I think if someone sat me down and explained the whole thing then i might take it up but im just a sports fan that enjoys the thrill of the victory with the sweetness of a little profit if i can...

Always good luck to anyone who dos bet as any return from the big bad bookies is great... Thanks and all the best...<ok>

    Leaderboard after the 2nd round...

    Leader Jason Duffner @ -7

    J. Day............. -4... sth
    DA Points......... -3... red
    B. Estes........... +1... red
    J. Vegas.......... +1... smokin

    The rest missed the cut...:(

Looks like this years previous winners are going to have a big say in this as Jason Duffner and Matt Kuchar are both in the top 4 placings. Duffner coming back from his honeymoon, obviously has had a good relaxing time<whistle> as he is our leader at -7. Kuchar fresh from his Players win has brought that form to Dallas and looks like threatening to snatch this and give him b2b wins...

Less can be said for the threads picks with Savethehumans doing the best with Jason Day at -4... Two rounds to go so fingers crossed to any one of us getting money back...

STH - I hope Day has a great round for you.

I too am golfing today. Small tournament at the local.

Seeing as though i have absolutely no chance whatsoever with my original picks, im gunna have a few 2ball bets and an outright on Vijay Singh for tonight. Would love to see the old boy turn back the clock a little.

    Leaderboard after the 3rd round...

    Leader Jason Duffner @ -8

    J. Day......... - 7... sth
    B. Estes....... -4... red
    DA Points..... -1... red
    J. Vegas...... +4... smokin

Heres hoping for you STH's with Jason Day and hopefully another winner from the golfing thread...<ok>

From my perspective wouldn't it be nice for Bob Estes to put in another great round and get my e/w back on him with my 125/1 starting price, he is currently positioned T8th... Good luck with your golf, and lets hope you get some luck with your pick later...<cheers>

And the winner is.... Jason Duffner returning from his honeymoon to win the Byron Nelson Classic... Congratluations to yer...

As for the threads selections only Jason Day came close to bringing home any money, but he faded away to finish +2 for the day and 6 behind Duffner on -5...

Better luck next time lads as there is always another tournament...<ok>

As you can see my golf bets are similar to my golf standard..

erractic, wayward and pretty much S***e! haha

Anyways next week im guna run a small comp, we pick 3 golfers each and then the golfers combined scores added together produces your final score. We can then have a leaderboard over the next few weeks to see who can produce the best score! Missed cuts can equate to two rounds of +18!!

Thats if anyone wnats to enter mind...
