please log in to view this image Don't worry folks, Byram has not gone.......yet Two weeks after Warnock came out and said that the days of Leeds selling our best players were in the past, assistant Manager Mick Jones has other ideas. Jones, spoke to reporters after the game v Birmingham saying the following :- “If Man Utd come in and offer £10m for Sam Byram, you can’t turn that down. He’s going to leave.” However, he expects both Byram and Becchio to stay, despite the fact that the club will have to fend off bids for them. Jones also claimed that other clubs are inflating prices when Leeds make contact with them. Our own analysis thinks this may be due to a high profile takeover that has not necessarily revealed its financial clout one way or another. I'm not trying to say that Byram could be worth ten million in the first place, or if an offer came in for 10 million, and it meant that 13-14m would get reinvested solely in players that it should be turned down. I am however fed up with other clubs thinking they can take our prized assets off us on the cheap. How many times in the past have we wanted a player who is wanted by another club in the same division as us? How many times have we managed to pull off that deal? Are we going to attract better talent to our club by selling our best players? If Warnock was given a substantial amount of capital to invest, would we trust him to bring in the right players? I feel that Warnock was forced to take huge gambles in the Summer by signing players that may be able to do a job for us, rather than the players he actually wanted to sign. If he had been given 5 million to spend, would he really have bought the likes of Varney and Pearce? I'm sure they would not have been his first choice signings!!!

I doubt Norwich have £10m to spend on a player. But if they or anyone else did, it would be very hard to turn it down. That said, I think both players will still be at ER come 1 February. Looking more positively on life, I really hope we get someone in who can run the game for us & dictate our play. Its a bit worrying that even a decent strength team couldn't beat what sounded like a poor Brum team.
I do believe that if Warnock had been given an adequate amount of money to invest last Summer he would not have bought in the players he did!!!

Ipswich Town have signed Nottingham Forest's David McGoldrick and Hull City's Aaron McLean on loan until the end of the season.
I dont think we'll be making many signings in January if any, it sounds as though Colin was after Hill and Derry but been turned down, the summer is going to be a busy time as we have quite a few players out of contract.......
Hopefully we'll get rid of the dead wood in the Summer, and extend the contracts of those we want to keep between now and then...
Thanks Elland, I agree with what you said about Colin maybe not buying who he wanted to in the summer so was left to pick up the crumbs.....
Thanks fella Suppose it was worth the gamble. At least he could get his players working and playing the way he wanted. I think we expected too much. Can't believe another striker has slipped through our fingers. Firstly Woods, now McGoldrick....
