if you could choose 2 players from our past which 2 would you choose to improve our current team and why.my two players would be brownie left midfield and simon garner up front.brownie because he was left footed hard as nails and had a never say die attitude and would gee the players up for the whole game and simon garner because he was a genius up front give him a chance and he would bury it, a first class finisher which is something we dont have at the moment.i must admit steve guppy came a close third with his superb ability to leave defenders for dead and get a perfect cross in 90 per cent of the time.<wizard>

    Good question.

Steve Guppy and Nathan Tyson. (With Roger Johnson a close third)

Tony Horseman & Nathan Tyson. (Brownie a close 3rd). Wasn't able to get to games in the Garner/Regis era, but I still remember watching Bodger knocking them in at Loakes Park.

I'm too young to remember some of the classic names being thrown around here, but i remember Stephen Oakes as a quality left midfielder, and would bring him back as it is our weak position in the team. Also, either Tyson or Mooney would be my second choice, they could put the ball in the net week in week out.

Steve Guppy and Keith Scott. They always played very well together back in the day. The close third for me would be Dave "Jesus" Carroll.

Some good names popping up here. Might be interesting to start forming our dream team from past and present.

I think Steve Guppy was on the left wing in which case we could have two very good wingers as I would take Len Worley for the right wing spot; two ball wizards. - fantastic. Another player I thought was class but can't rember his name (think his fist name may have been Larry but not sure) - played either No 8 or 10 against Middlesborough (might have been Larry Pritchard).

How about we come up with a dream team and get it published in the BFP with an invitation to suggest any other names via this forum (ie direct link to this thread - http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/36858-bygone-era ).

Just an idea sparked by this one.

They did this on Twitter not so long ago. I'll try to find what the voted dream eleven was.

Got it. Obviously the majority of votes were from younger fans but here goes: Martin Taylor, Jason Cousins, Chris Vinnicombe, Paul McCarthy, Mike Williamson, Dave Carroll, Keith Ryan, Steve Brown, Steve Guppy, Nathan Tyson and Tony Horseman (only one I never saw) I disagree with two or three of them, what does everyone else think??

This is in Four Four Two magazine this month too. The Wanderer Podcast was asked to enter a team. The team looks good to me, Horseman was well before my time too but his record is incredible. Of players I have seen, I would swap him for Andy Rammell.

It was from Wanderer Podcast that I got the team. I would have had Keith Scott up the front having never seen Horseman.

For me it would be Simon Garner, nobody playing for Wycombe has had so much class and Steve Thompson, attacking midfielder who could score and create goals and I genuinely believe we have never replaced him.

There are so many greats missed out in that Twitter list.
Creaser, Crossley, Kerr, Bell, Garner, Rammell, Thomo, Stapleton, Scott, Terry Evans.
What i'd give for a couple of them now!

Andy Kerr was quite possibly the best centre back I have ever seen at Wycombe. That man had it all skill, pace and an excellent football brain. Would be worth a fortune nowadays.
