ah yes i remember it well (somethings a bit hazy) from when my dad took me to watch my first game must have been about six years old think it was a friendly against juve so the awsome john charles could have been playing through to taking my son (RIP 28-1 1975 -27-07-2007) daughter to their first match evening kick off versus oldham (we lost) all because my son wanted a brian robson shirt i thought no i have got to show him who we are that first match did the trick from then on he was LEEDS through and through then came regular games home and away and season tickets in the kop on one occasion he was passed down from right at the back to the very front with him screaming dad dad dad all the way down and so the kop singing whers yer daddy gone little baby son to pass him back pass him back pass him back we had some great times watching our heros and i might add zeros (russel doig john stiles vince hillaire) some great moments like vinnie fouling the mascot to jeers of your just a dirty bastard watching john sheridan take that semi final free kick against charlton we lost that one to 2 goals from peter shirtliffter woh had just fould brendan ormsby so bad brendan never played pro football again (shirtlifter never even got booked) but those were great days i miss them so much 7 years ago today my son passed away but he left me some grand kids to look after me and one in particular is a leeds fanatic he is ten tears old and i am getting the urge to start taking him to watch the mighty whites just like i did with his dad so on this sad day for me i thought i would have a little ramble
Great thread Alf brings a tear to my eyes the way this great club as gone, sorry to hear about your lad. must be very difficult for you especially today.
Sorry to hear about your son, Alf. You've got some great memories, I see. 7 years is not a long time when you've lost a child, albeit grown up. Hope the grandchildren continue to give you comfort, and you get to hug them at ER through the good times to come (hopefully).
Really sorry to hear about your son. I cannot begin to try and understand what you have, and are still going through. Thank you for sharing those precious memories with us. M.O.T.
Alf, thanks for your reflections of days gone by. You and I must be a similar age and my very early days were in the John Charles era. ? I hope you mange to generate many more memories with your gandkids.
super post .. I'm cracking a beer for you and your lad right now to help get the lump out my throat Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Tragic to have lost your son at such a young age, can't contemplate one of my daughters going before me. Puts football into context, at the end of the day it's really not that important
Great memories, great thread Alf, sorry to hear about your loss.....respect to you....LEEDS LEEDS LEEDS...
