Hopefully that's the case, blue, who knows what Carlo would have achieved last season if Wilkins wasn't sacked quarter way through the season AND signed who HE wanted in the summer.

The whole Wilkins fiasco had a bad vibe about it, and I do think that hurt the team's chances in later stages. It all seemed good before that happened.

Wilkinsgate was a disaster for Chelsea last season. I think it unsettled the squad and robbed Carlo of his chief right hand man.
You are free to disagree with this but I think from that point on Carlo was waiting and wanting to be sacked (because if he quit, he wouldn't get the pay off). I'm not saying he didn't make any effort but I think he was very unhappy after that.

Yep hate to say it blue, but I think you're right with the latter! I mean how can you go from winning the double, destroying every team that stood in your way for the first 2 months of the season but then suddenly drop in form. Carlo was brilliant but I'm very happy with our new man, as I'm sure everyone else is! <ok>

(I would've hated to get someone like Benitez instead, for example)

I think its fair to say, the impact of Wilkins departure, went beyond Carlo to most of the first team squad and staff. The only real beneficiary was Brendan Rodgers who got a leg up and a good job elsewhere! In a funny way it served to ensure the board dont act heavy handed like that again, and to give AVB a bit of latitude to do his own thing!

Agreed. Luckily it's looking like we'll still come out ahead. Could have gone horribly wrong, though.

I'm hopeful that's the case. Make drastic changes doesn't necessarily lead to immediate success, and AVB needs more than a season to do it effectively.
