When we go to Leyton Orient on New Year's Day we must have a further 6 points in the bag from the previous 3 matches or I can only see us heading for the drop. We can talk about the 6 pointer at Notts County first but I think a loss could be on the cards up there, especially after their good away win last week shortly after a managerial change. What a shame we couldn't win for the new boss and that is where my point is focused due to the fact I don't believe we have many, if indeed any, players up for the fight and using demoralisation as an excuse just doesn't cut it in my books. They are professional players and if we paid the same lack of commitment in our daily jobs we could expect severe recriminations and probably the sack. It's beyond the time that the playing staff at Ashton Gate need to earn their wages and although we have been saying the same thing for about 3 years now the patience of most supporters is fast running out. We can forget about who is actually to blame, although we are pointing in the right direction based on the criticism on this board, because the time has come for someone to say that this is just not good enough. Do we really want to go in to the transfer window begging and scraping for new players, or do we want to sit back in some kind of contentment that the players already on staff have learnt their lessons and can now get the job at hand completed. I know which route I would prefer but only the next 4 games will tell us whether we are up to the task, and 6 points before New Year's Eve is surely a must, and might answer a lot of questions. Merry Christmas to all the players and let's hope you are up for the fight to give all of us a Happy New Year. Over and out.
Harsh and a somewhat difficult task but in retrospect jgf2 probably not far from the cold hard truth. Failure at any level will not be acceptable or tolerated.
