Best Driver: One of the drivers I like, sure, and in a pretty good car, but
Hamilton was absolutely outstanding today and the obvious candidate. He's gone absolutely agessssssss in the middle stint, whilst keeping very respectable pace, which allowed him to reap the benefits in the end and overtake teams who were more cautious. Shame the grand prix ended about 10 laps too soon (or that the marshals, Whiting, and stewards were so s***). Hamilton would have won the grand prix but for the tyres, I'm sure of it, even if Vettel had have been fine as well.
Worst Driver: Miss Daisy... Otherwise known as
Jenson Button. Perez pumped him, and every time he was on screen somebody was passing him.
Best Rookie (Gutierrez, Bottas, Van Der Garde , Bianchi, Chilton):
Bianchi
Best Team:
Mercedes
Worst Team: The
officials. The marshals get a lot of credit for doing a "difficult" job for free, but by god these fat racing fan-boys are slow to clear debris and pretty poorly organised by those in charge. I saw about ten marshals picking up ONE small bit of rubber, very slowly, then running to the side like a 15th century frigate in triumph. One guy, with a brush, could have swept that s*** up in five seconds.
Best Overtake:
Di Resta on Hamilton... or Alonso on several drivers near the end.
Funniest-moment:
The crowd's reaction to Vettel's demise!
Most Surprising Result:
Vettel suffers misfortune.
Least Surprising Result:
Rosberg's steady pace and lack of mistakes pays dividends.
Special Mention to:
Alonso and Webber, they drove well. Alonso especially in the last few laps was driving out of his skin. Webber slightly less so, he has the best car and everything seemed to fall into place after the horrible start.
Race Rating:
8.5/10
Drama, controversy, high speed racing to the line. What's more, the DRS was pretty fair in my opinion and not overly kind like we see at most circuits. The last few laps were excellent, and this race had a good mixture of things to ensure it's worth replay value. Better upfront battles would have made for a legendary race, but overall it was an enjoyable way to waste a few Sunday hours!
Best Commentator/Presenter: Brundle... "If Vettel takes advice from Schuey he'll pick the weakest, slowest and most pathetic team-mate possible"... Then someone reminds Martin he was his team-mate once, and that Herbert's in the pits spoiling for a fight
